Thank you Carlos! With as few people as you saw in the hallways just know that there are half as many now as another massive round of layoffs has occurred during a pandemic. It is a beautiful facility and I’m glad I’ve got this on record before the real estate landscape changes in radio again.

@@MarkWallengren Yes, it definitely is an amazing that you were able to capture something like this. I've always wanted to be on the radio as a Mix show DJ. I was able to get my Mix shows on the radio for about 6 - 8 months on one of the local stations but wasn't able to land it as a permanent position. So I've been researching a lot on how I can be able to have my own station and do whatever I please and be able to offer those that have a strong passion & desire to try something out like this without having to constantly be turned down like myself. And be able to offer it to everyone, (within reason of course).

Shot late in the day. After most had left. Since this and after more cutbacks/remote working the halls are empty and a lot of office space has been vacated.

I heart radio killed the radio star. So many small fun radio stations died from all this clean corp. take over. I was in it when it was fun late 80 to the late 90's.

Hi Mark. Can I ask, what brand of radio console/board is used in your KOST studio?

Hi Shane! It’s a board made by Harris around 2000. The promises they made about the technology never worked out (mostly the switcher system that would allow talent to customize your board and then be able to go to any other studio, dial in your account and the board would be set up the way you liked on any Harris board in the facility). Turned out no matter what Harris did it failed. They finally gave up and the company wasted a lot of money. 😢

Actually that room is pretty secure and there’s never an engineer around when you need one. Do to downsizing there aren’t as many around. We’ve got a cluster of eight radio stations and 10 transmitter sites. What remains of an engineering staff are over worked beyond belief. If I ever step foot inside that building ever again I’ll make sure to grab some video of the empty halls and automated audio equipment and processing gear!

They just filed bankruptcy to restructure. Many companies do so. They have been a profitable company almost every quarter since. They are paying the debt down. At least they have a quality app and stations across the country. Just because they are the largest broadcaster across the country doesn’t mean they have to be a punching bag for criticism. Keep in mind that real human beings work hard at these stations and they develop professional programming for everyone to enjoy each day.
