I love how individually they dance. The one in red is abrasive and throws her body into the movements, while the other in a cooler tone exhibits more physical control and grace.

It's the fact you can clearly see which one they're specifying the "devil" role too is so beautiful and adds to the dance. Truly exceptional dancers, and the emotion they put into it is flawless.

@ that is true I just meant if they didn’t have those costumes if you pay enough attention to the choreo you could probably tell (I’m a dancer and I’ve kinda gotten good with interpreting choreos.)

I’m just saying that within the first few seconds, you see the red and your mind is gonna associate it with “that’s the devil”. I see what you’re saying though.

I love this dance. They’re both great but the blonde girl seemed to draw my eye more. Maybe something as simple as a costume colour can do that.

They are both brilliant dancers but blonde is definitely smoother to watch, she might be slightly more trained or just have a different technique but I also was noticing red more, she was beautiful to watch because she flowed so well

I also believe the focus is more on her as the “devil” and the other dancer is being influenced by her showing more like corruption so her dance maybe is supposed to be less technical and clean compared to the girl in red like it’s telling a story x

I love the costumes because as someone who loves overanalyzing things (especially things with religious imagery) I really love that the girl, who I assume is supposed to be a human manipulated by the devil, has a dark gray costume. Gray is the in between on white (often associated with purity) and black (often associated with evil), dark gray is basically the in between but leaning towards evil which is pretty much exactly what’s shown in the dance. With the devil manipulating the girl but the girl not fighting back and instead seeming to enjoy or at least being content with ‘dancing’ with the devil, it makes sense she would be leaning towards evil but still not pure evil because she’s still only a human.

I find it so funny how contemporary is different depending on the country (don’t wanna say that one is better than the other it’s really just a factual comparison), I think there is an “American contemporary” where it’s more about physical performance (high legs, and even fit body and sparkling outfit) and really “contest coded”, while in France you can win a contest without physical performance, and I don’t have enough vocabulary to develop aha but if someone reads that and is interested I really suggest you to check some contemporary choreographer such as Ofesh Schechter if you don’t know him bc it’s the type of contemporary we have in France in most of contests
