I have enjoyed watching all your MMM vlogs. The black flared trouser pattern you showed us that you would like to make are almost identical to a pair I have. I wore these to a party ( The Gathering in Yorkshire) in April, with a silky Onil top by Pauline Alice and I felt nicely dressed up for the occasion so I think you will be pleasantly surprised how nice this style of trouser is both for looks and for comfort.

Really enjoyed your ‘Me made May’, you have such a range of styles and colours that you like, I also really like seeing you in plain clothes, the red jumpsuit for instance, but not so much the dungarees. I think the more shapely the garment the better but some of the last dresses you tried on really made your ‘assets’ disappear and then as you say, the gathers on your tummy reminded me of maternity wear and you have such a lovely waist to show off. Basically it’s about what feels comfortable on you which is something I think you are already aware of. Thanks for sharing your wardrobe with us ❤

Great vlog. The Indigo is gorgeous - I agree about the structure of the fabric - but its not far off being perfect. I would put some 'gentle' elastic around the waist so the gathering sits a bit flatter and the other thing Id do is remove that narrow frill at the bottom - I think the depth proportion is off. I think it would then look great as the fabric really suits you.

Hi Becky. I've been enjoying your entire Me Made May series. On today's grand finale, I'm glad you included a little bigger window into your wardrobe. You have a beautiful collection of me made garments and I can see why you love the signature pieces and many others. There are two outfits that may be slated for moving out of your wardrobe that you might want to try some minor tweaks to save. The first is the beautiful cotton lawn dress. You might not be reaching for it because it looks a tiny bit too tight across the bodice. When I saw the buttons at the back pulling, I thought immediately of moving the buttons over a bit to give you a bit more room. After various injuries, I am super sensitive to pressure, so focus on any areas that are pulling or too tight on the clothes I make (they will have me in pain within minutes otherwise). The second is the Sofia skirt with gathers at the waist. I also have problems with waist gathers -- the stiffer the fabric, the worse it is. I'm a pear shape, so to get an elasticized waist to go over my hips, there is lots of fabric at the waistband that ends up making me look like one of those lumpy dough boys/girls in flour ads. These days I'm a big fan of yoga waistbands. They make a smooth and comfortable band at the waist and the fabric seems to drape better at the bottom than if it is gathered. They end up being a plain color at the top of the skirt or pants, but I mostly wear my tops or tunics un-tucked-in, so you don't see the waistband. I don't know about in England, but here in the US, you can get nylon/spandex fabric that works well for the bands (82% nylon and 18% spandex). I can't wait to see what statement pieces you come up with to meld into your lovely wardrobe, Antonia

Ahhh thank you for taking the time to consider. I get pressure pain too, so fully understand. I think that dress is going to be transformed, just because there are too many things I’m not keen on. I like what you said about the Sabina skirt, we also have some Of those fabrics here in the UK, it’s given me some thoughts. Thank you for watching xx

What a fabulous round up - clearly a huge amount of work. The black and white top - suggest you pull the ribbing up to your waist and blouse the top over. I agree with you the Dungarees would look better on you if you change the ties for buttons. The black celestial print is gorgeous on you. I love the pink paisley baby doll!! Comfy for a WFH day? This was a really interesting vlog. Thank you for taking the trouble to make it. It was enlightening to see how much small changes can improve the look of a garment. For instance your red Heydays look so much better without the flappy straps. The red really suits you but needs to be coordinated carefully to show it off well, as you pointed out yourself. I agree with you about the shoulders of your indigo too, I like to see sleeves sitting in the right place. I wondered if some of your long sleeve dresses might look even nicer with short sleeves. I recently made 2 Estelle dresses and had to make one with short sleeves and it looked so much better. Anyway, thanks for an instructive video!

I have been trying on a lot of my makes and unfortunately, they are mostly too big for me now, and I mean really big because I have lost over 2.5 stone, so if I can adjust them to wear I will otherwise, they will have to go. Such a shame. However, my fabric stash is rather large, so I have enough fabric to remake them. I am cutting my patterns down to make them again. You look fabulous, by the way, in everything you wear. I think you are right about the marnie in white with blue flowers, it does make you look washed out. Love the Black and white Billie Sweatshirt. When you wear black trousers with it, you can't see your mum tum. I know I have one too. Keep sewing and have a lovely holiday.

Thankyou for yr M. M. M. Im quite envious seeing lovely summer clothes and us down under winter is here, but giving me food for thought what to make for our summer. Thinking your dungarees would be great to wear around the house, why do we always think we can't be reasonably tidy take it from one much older person that ends up giving clothes away because I can't get out of the habit of changing on arrival home, silly really but was the way I was brought up, not many clothes those (good old days 😮) but I am learning and loving it 😅. Even some of yr dresses look great to wear around the house cool and practical. Tights were a great invention but sometimes we wear them far to often, and alas worn 😮 well....... Watch your makes again and see if you agree with what I see. The dresses/jumpsuits that come slightly more below your chest are the most flattering. Adding a bit of elastic even if not called for in the pattern or another form of synching may be the difference in you loving the outfits more. I also like you with a bigger ruffle on the bottom of items you’ve made with a ruffle instead of the narrower ruffle. For the skirt you were debating about, if you could make the waistband wider and take the ruffle off you make like the look more (maybe sheer the waistband???). I think the black and white jumper would look nice with your pink jeans, try a little tuck and see if that works (even though it has a band). I love your makes and the fabrics are lovely. Enjoy you and your channel very much,

The red hay days. I think it’s partly the bulk of the fabric. Change to a button on the straps to get rid of some bulk. Also the front crotch seam looks a little low? And then it’s just a matter of finding the perfect tee shirt which should be close fitting.

Re-cut the fabrics and make something different. The wrap dress and the one with the moons and stars look lovely. I think the reason why you don’t like the dungarees and the gathered dress are that they don’t give you shape. Everything you love emphasises your figure. X

I've loved all your recent Me Made videos, except the part where I want to buy all the patterns! You're a very similar size and shape to me, we have different tastes (I don't do animal print!) but a similar style and it's been so useful seeing you analyse everything as I'm still new to sewing and working out what works best for me. I'm interested in your Westcliff dress though, I thought that looked amazing on you and I'd love to make one, but looking at the pattern it looks like it has about 10" of ease across the bust?! Yours definitely didn't, did you size down and if so how did you work that out, or did you make a toile, or...?
@whatbecsews4 ай бұрын
I actually made the B cup not the D cup on that one but I stuck to size, I thought it was negative ease in the pattern? Been a while since I made it but I think it’s a L graded to an XL xx

I think you know your body and style very well and have made an accurate assessment. The first dress you tried on (the Indigo?) with the shoulders not quite right and flappy facing, could benefit from a few tweaks. The shoulders could easily be adjusted and the facing stitched down. Those changes could make enough of a difference. On the other hand, you may, like me, prefer to make a new garment than make alterations. That would be a shame as the colour is good for you. The last dress I don’t feel does you any favours, although that fabric is lovely. I can’t wear the oversized look either, but I would like to be able to. We are what and who we are and it’s good to be honest with ourselves. I have loved your vlogs, thank you. I have tried to make more time to sew during Me Made May, but life has conspired against me. I will try again in June! I wish you a very happy holiday.
@whatbecsews5 ай бұрын
Thank you. I like you much prefer to make a new garment, but I do like this fabric… I might get a scout tee out of the fabric 🤔 I’m glad you have enjoyed this series xx
@lovejohandmade5 ай бұрын
I think the Indigo would work with a wider belt over it. I think it’s the empire waist that isn’t your thing. A wider belt will give you that hourglass that better suits you, so it doesn’t just hang. Dart the shoulder - I saw that Loves Red did that with her Lyra and it worked well.
@lovejohandmade5 ай бұрын
The Everyday dress again is that empire line which you feel less sure about. Again, try a wide belt (in red maybe for that one). The fabric really suits you though.
@henriettejosephine5 ай бұрын
I think the a line dress suits you best. I keep away from all the dresses that have gathers below the bust because they look like maternity dresses. All the baby doll dresses look lovely on children or very slim young girls, do not like them on grown up women. I love the fabrics that you worked with and as you are a very skilled sewist you can and should cut them up and sew someting different with them. The pomona pants are such an easy pattern you could easily take them in. I love you best in bold bright colours, ditzy prints are not you. And I agree the white blouse washes you out. The print would be lovely on a nighty.

If i am truthful i think fitted dresses that nip in at your waist suit you sooooo much, but the looser gathered dresses not so much. I think they swamp you because having a larger bust and the gathers being just after make them look a tad frumpy on you. I am not being nasty before anybody comments. Just you always ask for our thoughts. As for your dungarees with the ties i think maybe having a pattern that as you use the proper fasteners with may be what you are after. I can understand why you arent fussed with the knots. You have made some lovely garments Becky. You look stunning in that blue buttoned dress. The colour and style are amazing on you, as does the ladies in the lake dress 👗 😊

I know your not being nasty lovely and I appreciate your honesty and completely agree with you, I feel frumpy in them, i enjoy this exercise of sorting through my clothes it helps inspire me for my next set of makes x
@callitags5 ай бұрын
I have to agree that the white/blue floral washes you out, and that's not something I seem to see as easily as some others. The black and white looks great on you, colorwise, but the band at the bottom obviously sits at a place that makes you feel self-conscious, and it doesn't seem to have the shaping that you seem to gravitate towards. I think that's also why the pretty shirt you made last December makes you feel frumpy. It looks fine, but it doesn't have much shape to it. The Sabina skirt looks great on you, and doesn't make you look bigger to me at all, but I understand what you're seeing that you don't like. You look adorable in the dungarees! Though, I share your opinion on the ties, because I think I'd find them distracting if they were sticking out much. The Indigo dress - I hope you can repurpose that beautiful fabric. You're so dissatisfied with the actual dress, you'll just never feel your best in it. The Westclif hack dress is STUNNING on you. Definitely a keeper. I'm glad you decided to let it stay in your wardrobe. The collab dress (I missed the name), is loose, but it still does have a nice shape, but I agree with you about the Christmas association. I'd probably keep that for the winter, too. The jumpsuit fabric does get a bit muddy from the distance, doesn't it? The other four dresses you showed us are fabulous, and you look fantastic in all of them. I know the babydoll is out of your comfort zone, and you're a bit conscious of looking bigger than you are, but I don't think you do in that dress. It's so cute on you. Maybe you can come to enjoy that silhouette, but maybe not. It was really interesting to see what you're not wearing and working through some of the issues that have kept them out of your rotation.
@whatbecsews5 ай бұрын
I think the ties on the dungarees Will be changed to buttons so I get the wear. I’m thinking of making a scout tee with the indigo fabric, just because I do love the fabric. The babydoll style dress is staying but I think it will be a work from home kind of outfit. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, I loved reading through your thoughts x

On the skirt - The reason you are not wearing it, is you don't wear skirts. I don't think I have ever seen you wear a skirt in over 18 months of following you. The only time is when you've made one and say you don't like it 😂 I think you look fine but it's how you feel. You also gave the answer to the red dungarees - you don't like the ties and you feel a bit like Mrs Christmas. Again I think you look good in the colour but if you don't like the look that's the answer. You possibly have so much me made that you can be picky. Have fun editing 😎❤
