Take the big collar off and either make it smaller or just bind the neckline ❤

That’s a great idea thank you! ❤️

That's my recommendation, too. And maybe cut the sleeves into short sleeves as well.

Yes that’s what I think too. The fabric is just too beautiful.

Cuffed blouse is a win! I agree with others on here who suggest removing the large collar and either adapting it to reduce in size or leave it off altogether. You probably have enough fabric in the collar to do a simple standup ruffle around the neckline. That would be cute. The struggle with thick fabrics is real. I made a softshell coat a couple months ago and had to bias bind the front zipper and fabric seam because my machine refused to top stitch through the layers as the pattern called for. I am happy in the end but there was some drama 😂
@christycampbell1874Ай бұрын
Oh yes a stand up ruffle collar! Or is the neckline too large?

Love your videos, Cath!

Thanks Nancy 😊 I’m definitely inspired to adapt the neckline of the blouse after everyone’s suggestions on here. I’m glad it’s not just me with the thick fabrics struggle! 😂

Hubby bought a commercial walking foot Juki for canvas projects. It’s great for structured bags and topstitching denim. Only machine we both sew on. Saves my 80s Pfaff, which I still love.

My 70’s Pfaff is the best machine I’ve owned in my 65 years of sewing.

I would definitely clip the curves of the bag to make it a bit easier to turn. I can't wait to see it.

I totally agree with you re saving that gorgeous fabric of the Bakerloo blouse. Ogden Cami already suggested is a good idea, or perhaps an Ashton Top. You could add a centre seam to the back, as the print doesn’t need to be matched. I definitely wouldn’t let any liberty fabric go!
@madebycathcraftАй бұрын
Thank you, yes I love a Liberty fabric and that print is one of my favourites, I would love to save it somehow! 😊🤗

Hi Cath, lovely to see you back and a thoroughly enjoyable video too 😊 I’ve also loved your Instagram posts, but it’s good to hear about the “whys and wherefores” of your makes. Its great the you are able to find the time to make these videos, because you have such a busy life with your husband and children. Of course as we fast approach Christmas, knowing you a little, I’m certain you will have lots of plans for the festive time. It’s very curious what’s happened with your knitting. I do hope you can sort it out 🙏 Have a good week and look forward to seeing you next time. Take care 😊xx

Hi Cath. Thanks for another lovely video. As someone else has mentioned why don't you take the collar off the Bakerloo and use the fabric to make facings or use bias binding to make a round neck, if the rest of the blouse is ok.
@madebycathcraftАй бұрын
Hi Ruth, I’m so glad I talked about the blouse on here as that’s a great idea, i would love to save the blouse and make it more wearable. Thank you 😊
@chlomo2618Ай бұрын
You did a great job with the cuff top! The back seam looks invisible from here. I agree with the others who've suggested just taking the collar off the Liberty Bakerloo blouse, if that's the only part that bothers you. I've done that before with a dress that had a collar I'd grown out of stylistically, and I got years more wear out of the garment once I'd removed the collar and altered the neckline.
@madebycathcraftАй бұрын
Thank you, I’m glad the cuff top back seam looks to be nicely hidden! Fab that’s great to know it worked well removing a collar and altering the neckline! I’m feeling inspired!

Great video and lovely makes. Difficult to know what to do with items you don’t like - shame not to let someone else wear them but I wouldn’t worry about repurposing the fabric for yourself especially when you really love it! Fabric isn’t cheap and it’s another sort of challenge, which you might enjoy 😊❤😉

Hi Cath! I love all your garments. Would you consider changing the collar of the Bakerloo blouse to a "granddad" collar or some other collar so that way you can continue wearing the fabric as a blouse? Just a thought... ☺

Your baker lou blouse could you reduce the size of the collar to a more normal size? It would be fiddly but it's ashame you won't have the garment to wear in the lovely fabric.

It wouldn't help now, but I wonder if the foam would work just basting it inside the seam allowance so when sewing up the bag, it's only the outer fabric in the seam...?
@madebycathcraftАй бұрын
That’s a good idea!

Thank you! I like how it looks over the black top too! I’ll have a think about the blouse 😊
@jodieroundtree488Ай бұрын
@@madebycathcraft can you take off the collar? If not, certainly re-use that great fabric! I'm a quilter so I can always re-use fabric 😅 I do refashion on occasion. Like when I use the wrong weight of fabric for a pattern. Sometimes it can at least become a nice tank top (or quilt or bag). Good luck! I love that you are going through your makes. It really is helping me thinking of taking care of things I've made but didn't fit right so it's hanging in this one closet. Maybe it's time to either DO the adjustments or just use the fabric for something else. Thanks!
@barbarawarner4645Ай бұрын
Just remove that enormous collar and you’ll probably wear the blouse.
