Good Morning Kindred Spirits. What a wonderful Sunday morning I've been having this morning. After my bath, made a coffee, went to my favorite chair to see what is going on in the world on fb. Just as I turned on the computer, notification came up that Linda Smith Davis had her video up. As soon as I started to watch it, I was taken back to my childhood. Our Mom every Friday morning had a routine, clean the top of the stove and wipe out the fridge before doing the rest of her house work. Had to make sure the house was cleaned for the weekend...might have company...lol My dad use to always laugh, he could never figure out why she would clean the stove top and then right after cook on it. There would always be soup or stew simmering all day. We didn't have crockpots back then.She always said it made the food taste better...lol. I'm definitely going to try the bread recipe for our dinner tonight. I'm from Canada, so like you our fall is very short lived. This is our Thanksgiving weekend, so I'm relaxing and enjoying the holiday. Thank you so much for starting off my Sunday like this, I know my day will be perfect and relaxing. I just came back from a week in New England. The colors were just magnificent and we were lucky to have wonderful weather. We stayed at the Bedford Inn and when the lady at the front desk offered us the complimentary glass of champagne I couldn't help but thinking of you and the fly! Oh my goodness we were there and at the Bedford Inn then also . We should have had a way of identifying ourselves as Linda has mentioned. The Tavern was delicious and I did some damage at the clothing shop there as well. Great minds think alike. Maybe next time .

Such a perfect way to spend a fall day making stew and bread, Linda. That is the easiest and best recipe for bread. I have made it twice since it was in an earlier video and plan to make it today. This time, I am adding shredded parmesan cheese and Italian herbs to the dough. I'll serve it with vegetable soup. It will be the perfect meal for our cloudy, rainy day. I have had cats all my life - 75 years but have never had a cat as inquisitive as Cricket! At one point we had 17…like running a daycare for 2 yr olds! Can’t imagine an energetic cat like this in the mix. Look forward to your videos every week, seeing you and Willow. Love your house.

Wow! I loved your video today. The fall colors are gorgeous! I’m a desert girl from Phoenix, Az so I don’t get the full “fall” experience everyday. It’s still over 100 degrees here. I’m a flight Attendant, always on the go, traveling constantly so our lives could not be more different. @@susanfraase3750 So very sorry, Susan. One of life’s most difficult moments is to lose a pet. Our 18 year old tabby, Sasha departed over 20 years ago. I think of her everyday. Have not replaced her. But, there are so many cats and dogs that need a loving home. Go to your local animal rescue shelter in a few weeks or months, when you are ready, and bring home another fur baby to love. We hope to move to a different home soon and will do the same, after all these years. Ready to be a cat mommy again. You can, too. You will heal.

Great video. We were hit by the hurricane is South Carolina. Plenty of damage here but nothing like North Carolina. We have power and internet back and lots of yard clean up. They are soothing to my soul as I watch you journey throughout Sugarwood working through the seasons. This week because of the cold and rainy weather I watched all of your autumn videos and enjoyed my favorite season. I discovered your videos last winter and have watched each with joy and noticed so many things we have in common as we enjoy the "fine living" of New England and living in old historic homes. I'm in Bennington, VT and our house was also built in 1790. You are truly a kindred spirit and I truly love watching you use your "Yankee ingenuity" as you work through each project around Sugarwood. I purchased your vanilla and have been loving it as I bake and use it in different recipes. The bottle was so cute I keep it out on my antique cupboard for display. Your hard work is appreciated as you post weekly videos. Keep sharing your amazing journeys in your beautiful New England home. Isn't it wonderful to find secrets of the past within and around the property as we dig into the lives of folks that have lived there during earlier years. We too have found wonderful artifacts from the past: clay pipes, metal hoops from skirts, croquet balls hidden in an apple tree, old coins and pottery and bottles! Carved initials in beams, clothes hidden in a loft, such treasures from the past. My husband has even started to watch your videos with me! And that is a genuine complement as he calls it "that New England ladies' show"!!! PS: our home is filled with wonderful treasures from thrifting and antiquing too !!

Thank you so much for this and previous trips round your beautiful region, really comes into its own in autumn. I love browsing the many names of the towns and villages shared with the UK and Ireland. It must have given the new settlers a sense comfort. Impressive knife skills used to prepare the cosy autumnal feast. Wasn’t that basket of green produce a delight? What a cute kitty, so gracious of Willow to share her home. So surprised to see an early video from you. I got to enjoy before the family woke up, enjoying a cup of tea. I use that dawn /vinegar mixture, works great in the bathroom! I will try it in my stovetop! The bread and stew looked delicious. Thanks for a serene moment. Have a wonderful week!

Good morning! Do you do the microwave step? I'm still not sure for the reason of it. My recipe is the Dawn, water, and vinegar and it seems to work the same, but I'm open for trying new things!

@@newenglandfinelivingmy recipe was to mix four parts vinegar and one part dawn. I use the blue ultimate dawn. Works well getting soap scum off the shore. However, after watching, I looked up different “recipes” and many did heat the vinegar in the microwave. Guess it helps the two to blend better. I may try the microwave method. Better than some of the toxic smelling cleaners. Happy cleaning!
