Thanks for posting the video. I was considering a Meade 14" LX200-ACF. When I saw you struggle to mount your 78 pound 12" telescope on the tripod, I knew right away the 125 pound 14" telescope was going to require a forklift to lift it onto the tripod. My lifting weight limit is about 60 pounds, so I'm going to have to continue my quest for a more portable telescope.

Great video! This helped me decide to purchase a 12" LX200 classic and I'm sure glad I did!

For those of you that asked how heavy the Scope is? It weights in at 34 Kilos or 75 pounds. Very top heavy and a second person is recommended but A motivated person can do it.

That thing is insane. Man that would be cool to look through.

Its really too bad there are so many morons on KZbin making ridiculous and insulting comments. Thank you for posting this vid. I was wondering if the weight was doable, and how high above the waistline you had to lift it... it looks manageable. Also FYI for readers, the LX90 12" is about 10-15lbs lighter (the forks are thinner, lighter).

This is great, i'll buy it to piggyback on my 48" scope as a viewfinder

The only thing this telescope is missing is the optional attachment from Meade which eliminates noisy neighborhood children. I'd probably opt for background music and voice-over narration next time. Beautiful scope!

True at the time I had no way to do voice overs like I do now.

Damn that would be insane moving that huge bucket to star parties and fields. Thank god I went with a 9.25 inch. Pretty much your limit if you dont wanna be stationary.

@drsumantr You cant go wrong with either. They are both good scopes. For imaging the LX200 ACF or CPC1100 Edge HD or visual CPC1100. They are both good scope and I have not had a problem yet with this scope. Its been dead on since I had it and points more accurate than my old CPC1100.

Many thanks for posting. I'm on the market and have settled on the LX200 series. Money's not really a barrier. I would LOVE a 12" but after watching you struggle, I'm leaning toward the 8". I'm pushing 60 and not getting any younger. I could probably just barely handle the 12" now, but I hope to be using this scope into my 80s. Better keep it real? I'll be viewing mainly Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, nebulas, and galaxies. Can anyone tell me if there is a really huge difference between the 12" and 8" when it comes to those views? Will I regret not breaking my back for the 12"?

I've just read your comment, probably a bit late after a year, but yes, there would be a very big difference between a 8 and 12 inch scope. 12 inch is about twice the light grasp of the 8 inch. It's best of you are able to permanently mount the scope.

I got the meade lx 90 8in and love it and actually use it. This would be just like my 18in dobsonian that sits in garage and never use anymore

How heavy is the scope? I think the 12" is too heavy to carry around, I better look at the 10" scope.

YOu will see me leg go fo teh scope once!! while securing the bolt. The reason is I felt it catch the threads and it will NOT slide off the tripod at that point. Once seated its rock solid. If you use the ultra wedge it will require two pwople.

Got something against simple questions being asked? A simple Y/N really would've sufficed but I guess simple questions can be a bit much for the simple minded to tackle. Do yourself a service and take your "arse" down to a few night classes in basic english grammar so your comments wont stand out like dogs balls for all the wrong reasons. The above is no way intended to be an insult although im sure you will take it as one. PS: I'm not a fan of animal prints and I dont care for your needs. ^^)

Without the wedge, its just another pretty face. You spend all that cash, but not a few extra hundred to have a real setup that will accurately track the night sky??????????
