I think the moral is to not eat that much meat. Humans are a chimera of vitamins and proteins. I think the moral is less “pro-vegan” and deals more with diet and how we can balance. Notice that while the leaf eaters diet did give him”benefits” he was used to it and didn’t have to change. When others tried to adopt his diet to extreme measures it got immediate results yet made them unhappy in the long run. The message is definitely blurry yet the moral of the story is to balance your meals and that you need to understand the effects of each part of your diet rather than following trends.

the moral i took is like all good things moderation is key, just because you eat leaves doesn't mean you can't eat other things to, the smartest idea is to eat meat if you like it and for your health eat plants as well, only plants will eventually get boring and only meat can eventually give you many health problems so the true moral unlike how this film tries to end is that the ultimate solution was a 50/50 split diet. also the "human" in this situation was no more innocent than the others as he destroyed his own food source directly by chopping down that tree, they don't show him eating grass they show him eating leaves meaning eventually he would starve and if the people listened to him they would inevitably starve as well.
