Like for example, large companies getting big profits in the short run but causing horrific natural disasters that will affect them too with the planet's changing atmosphere, and how they won't be able to escape the consequences of their actions forever. Just like when the cats turned into the tiger they tried to escape but couldn't due to the chains they ignored under the table wrapping tighter and tighter around their legs the whole time. If they were more aware of their surroundings instead of solely focused on getting what they want now, they might have noticed the chains while they were still lose and get out of them.

I think it’s also worth paying attention to how, at the beginning of the film and at the end, pieces fall ominously from the cliff next to which the house stands. If the rooms are countries, and the hotel is the entire ecosystem of the earth, then the slowly but surely collapsing rock is world's fate, that, even before the world-eaters devour the entire earth, will literally throw our world into the abyss.

It political not geopolitical. It's about one single nation and I believe the rooms are different generations of a society, the house being the nation, while the rocks falling into the sea represent the erosion/degeneration of the foundations/pillars of democracy, risking to make the house/nation to fall underwater, a risk amplified by fact that it has been built on unsafe foundation/place which may stand for the climate crisis we don't see due to being focused on what happens inside the house. What I don't understand is why the floors ? Do they represent the 3 categories of nations (1st-3rd world), meaning that democratic revolutions occur in 1st world nations first ?

Hold up, the rocks falling and the wrong hill/cliff upon which the house has been built can't be about climate crisis. The sea waves could be the climate crisis, due to the implied slow erosion of the coastline itself, and climate crisis isn't that important in politics yet (nobody gives a shit about it in politics tbh, only people and NGOs cares about it). That hill is the perfect representation of the financial bubble (boom & bust/cliff & underwater), while the rocks falling is inflation of national currency aka the erosion of nation/people's wealth, which is very profitable for who has access to cheap currency loans that devalues itself (I use this strategy in crypto). Investors & entepreneurs love inflation if they're pros, while working class pay the price for both, due to lack of financial education (not knowing that you must store gold/BTC and borrow currency, etc) & elite's greed (they know the collateral effects/"unintended" consequences of this). I believe the meaning of those details is: "We're in a bubble, the bubble is about to bust and we built our nations in/on the wrong place/hill/monetary, financial & economical premises (fractional reserve banking & modern monetary theory), ignoring safety policies required to not end up with the nation underwater due to the laws of nature /thermodynamics/quantum physics (same laws apply to finance & economy also, even if "serious" economists don't know it)". I’ve read a lot of great interpretations in the comments but I think the one thing I would interpret differently is the chef. Others interpret him as nature or the system but I interpret him exactly as he is portrayed, human. WE keep the system going and we are the issue. We are the cats and also the pigs. And until we change we will keep repeating the cycle. At the end of the day it dosent matter who plays what role. I talk to my parnts sometimes about it, well war was always there and the fear of losing a family member was immanent .We have more advantages rn like the internet and stuff and kinda more freedom. But we are somehow chained, there’s no real law but only corruption, according to my parents life in 70s-80s was much better from that point. And about the STEM fields, people (regardless of gender)mostly choose a STEM career bc firstly of the society and family pressure, secondly there are no jobs even for pharmacist,dentists and architecture (another reason why life sucks here lol) so as long as you have a chance to be a doctor just do it 😀 Idk about before but there was much less pressure for sure and older ppl used to choose the major they’re interested in. I know life before wasn’t much better or probably it was worse, esp in 90s. But we can’t take it as an excuse to not to fix whatever is going on now, even politicians themselves are not taking such excuses. All I know life now is unbelievably unpredictable , I’m fine rn and nothing gaurantees that I’ll be fine tomorrow, there’s alot of factors that make me say this, you know Iraq is a war zone since the down of times, even if there’s no war rn but no one can be safe until they have a strong clan or a political root, I have neither 🥲

This is why I am forever grateful for English Literature class in grade school. I hated the books we read, but I grew to love them for the truth that they poured into us. There's so much to unpack I'll be thinking about this for a long time. The cook puts the kittens into a silk top hat to carry them into the next dining room. It was a small detail but it seems important. I think about the hats worn by those in the Gilded Age, and also of the magician's hat... anyway, I loved this.

Wow. It is a powerful animation with a clear message. It is great to see the cats (people) gathering arround the power to get something to survive. Then when there is no food or crumbs to the cats appears the beast changing the status quo to be reborn in a new society. If our ""nature"" was just being selfish and coming up on top of each other instead of progress and revolution we would be at the same cave as humans 60000 years ago. The resources come from the room (Nature) whilst the government (Cook) keeps feeding them, not caring for the people. (Cats) A politician distracts the kittens (Mouse) so he can eat in peace. However, corruption (chains) doesn't let them leave, making them succumb to the tiger (Revolution).

Remarkable.This animation completely sums up my country myanmar which has been under coup attempted by military. Cats- Common peoples. Pigs- military junta, elite folks, military families. Mouse- A distraction created by those peoples like cutting off the electricity, water and other basic needs for thrive. To completely distract peoples. Cook- Nature it self. Tiger- Revolution. Which happening till now. Food- All people's sweat and blood. Chain- Corruption and power. Wow. They really did made that short story in 10 minutes which sums up the whole fucking society out there.

I watched this numerous times to take in as much of the details in the story as i could. I found it useful to look with care at the little things in the story. On a dark stormy night, in the upper dining room of a hotel is a table covered in an array of food, being served to anthropomorphic pigs. The 6 pigs are dressed in various costumes :The Pig wearing the Judge's "peruke" or courtroom wig, representing the impartiality of the court that has no personal agenda in its proceedings. The Pig dressed in the ornate vestments of clergy, who sits at the left hand of the Judge pig. The 2 top hat wearing pigs, one sits at the opposite end of the table from the Judge pig. His necktie is blue, the other top hat pig sits at the right hand of the judge pig, his tie is red. Between the 2 top hat pigs sits a hatless pig with a tuxedo, a mustache and ostentatious jewelry on his hands. On the other side of the table next to the clergy garments pig is another hatless pig, the only one to wear glasses, he also has a mustache and goatee and wears a fashionable ensemble of green shirt and jacket with matching trim. He is one of those at the table who offers scraps to the scrawny cats (whose voices are plaintive and loud throughout the dinner.) The cats are black and white, and they fight among themselves for food on the floor, that which has fallen by accident and that small amount which is given by the pigs. One black cat has pursued a fallen meatball under the long tablecloth and sees clearly that all the pigs are caught by their legs with heavy chains that squeeze them, one serpent-like chain has a padlock for a head and spots the amazed cat, who is then seized by the chain and disappears under the cloth, his fellow cats don't notice. Dinner is served by one man who is big and strong, he feeds everything in the room and finally the room itself into the hopper of a big steel machine that expels black smoke like a factory and transforms it all into plates of food for the pigs, the strong man never eats, nor speaks, and doesn't feed the cats directly, he is naked to the waist and gradually goes to more dire lengths in order to provide food, the chandelier having been consumed, light is provided by candles, in this darker room the cats become increasingly agitated and vocal, gathering around the judge pig's chair, in frustration, he waves them away towards the fashionably dressed pig, who uses a wind up toy mouse that leads them away from the table temporarily. The man shrugs as he holds an empty plate from the machine once all the food is gone and the pigs have begun to hit the table, as in a tantrum, clamoring for more to consume. The pigs begin to devour the plates themselves and the cats leap up onto the table, transformed into a huge black and white tiger who lunges and devours the judge pig, throws his decapitated head on the table before consuming the other pigs, who try and fail to escape the hidden chains that hold them fast. With all the pigs killed and eaten, the tiger lies down on the table to sleep, while the working man emerges from behind his machine with a large knife which he uses to quickly kill the tiger, after listening to the tiger's belly, he cuts its body open to extract black and white kittens, which he tenderly gathers in a top hat and carries into a new dining room, he switches on the light in the empty room and the kittens scurry out of the hat. We see their shadows on the wall as they're transformed into the same 6 pigs who sat at the last dining table, one of the black top hatted pigs ceremoniously distributes knives and forks to his fellow pigs from what appears to be a ballot box. And the cycle begins again, as our view is drawn outside into the stormy night we see the hotel with a demolished room in the corner, outside the storm rages on, and rain falls into a turbulent ocean that crashes against the crumbling cliff upon which the hotel sits. For now...
