Suggestion on the cookie cups. Turn your muffin tins over and place the cookie dough over each section and mold to the "cup" and bake.. once cooled you have your bowl no additional step needed.

Something that’s really good with making the banana bread is putting half your batter in your loaf pan and take some caramel sauce or syrup and drizzle some on top and give it a little swirl and then put the rest of the batter on top and drizzle on more caramel. I make this all the time and people always love it.

Great video. My mom (now deceased) always used pie filling for the cobbler recipe and that’s how I make it. I’m 63 and never thought to use plain canned fruit and never saw anyone make it that way until a couple of years ago when my best friend made her cobbler that way. Still, I prefer it with the pie filling. If you have one of those meat choppers (for breaking up meat during browning) you can dump the apple or peach filling into a dish and use the chopper to cut up the fruit.
@TalesFromAnEmptyNest6 ай бұрын
I do have a meat chopper! Didn’t even occur to me to use it for this. Thanks for the tip! I wasn’t sure how I would like it, but the pie filling is wonderful in cobbler!😁😁😁

You should try the 1-2-3 banana bread, it's one box of yellow cake mix, two eggs and three mashed bananas that's it mix well and bake till toothpick comes out clean. It is so good you can add nuts or use a chocolate cake mix it's the only one I use now and the grandkids love it. And I have never thought to make deserts for the freezer thank you for showing this

I am the complete opposite. I forget that I am wearing a "good shirt" and get all of the food on it while cooking then to make matters worse I get bleach water on it during the clean up process. The I get mad at myself for forgetting to change clothes before inspiration struck in the kitchen. 🙂

Started these today, but I have a fear of using the wrong pan size after I ended up cramming enchiladas into the pans that weren't the right size. My bad, though, I knew the tortillas were 8"! I'm glad they are just for me and hubby😂 That's what I get for ordering too many different sizes. Will see how the crumble turns out. I'm still trying to decide what pan size you used, lol

I have just stumbled upon your channel. I love it! I do have a question, could I substitute maple syrup (the real stuff) instead of honey in the granola bars?
@TalesFromAnEmptyNest3 ай бұрын
Thank you! I haven’t tried with maple syrup. It tends to be a bit thinner than honey so you may need to adjust a bit for that🙂

Why did you add baking soda and baking powder to the self rising flour while making the banana bread?
@TalesFromAnEmptyNest2 ай бұрын
The base recipe is something I found years ago and it’s just how I’ve always done it. I don’t know the science behind it, but it works for this. This is actually the only recipe where I’ve added both to self rising flour🙂

what can you use in replacement of sour dough discard??
@TalesFromAnEmptyNest6 ай бұрын
Since sourdough discard is basically just flour and water that is fermented, you can try adding an extra 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of water in place of the discard. I’ve never tried it this way, but it might work🙂
