I worked in a restaurant years ago that served that apple pie. We managed to recreate it at home. A sweet pastry case, can of carnation caramel, stewed apples and a crumble top. So simple but delicious.

That apple pie did look particularly delicious and I was absolutely delighted to see it was gluten free!! Being coeliac it is a bit of a nightmare eating out especially when the menu will be heavily pasta based, which although I love pasta I can’t order it, but I’ll take that apple pie any day. Love your content Cheryl and look forward to seeing your weekly menus on a Sunday.

Also a nightmare when mrnus are changed without notice or warning. I don't know if I'm coeliac am waiting on the diagnostic scopes to tell fir sure, but I DO know I have issues with gluten. Recently I ordered ny usual GF pizza from a local shop I've dealt with in years, and they usually do a great job. However, this time there was somebody new on who took the order and never told me the GF option had been changed. Result? I spent about 3 days bunged up with stomach cramps and bloating where it 'stuck" inside me - then I had a few days great fun with the Movicol (if u know, u know 🤢🤢🤢). I'm still livid - a whole week sick for basically no reason

Cheryl - it is very interesting to see what a simple dinner out costs in Scotland. My goodness, the cost is close to what you spend on a weekly shop. Maybe a bit more, on some weeks.

@@LindaC616 Which coast? I am on Vancouver Island and sea food prices are astronomical. However, having said that, there aren't a lot of fish left in the sea and fishermen have quotas and restricted days for harvesting. Hence the high prices and it is like like globally I would expect.

Hello from the far north of Germany! 2 recipes that I've been making on and on for a while now are the "secret burger sauce" from *ThatDudeCanCook* and an tuna melt from Malta. It's on *Beryl Shereshewsky* in Pt.3 of her series: "what people from around the world put on toast". I'll gladly send the links, if you have trouble, finding it. Another crowd pleaser comes from Chef John: *foodwishes* : it's the "pulled chicken sloppy Joes". So simple, yet so delicious! Hope I was able to give you some inspration.

That caramel apple pie did look delish. Love caramel and apple together. Bet it would be even better drizzled with salted caramel. I’m sure you will be able to figure out how to make. Probably could use a homemade millionaire’s shortbread thin caramel layer under the crumble since it is soft but not runny and retains it consistency. Might have a go at making that pie myself. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸
