I can't believe people watched this and didn't know it was a musical....like from the first 5 seconds I could tell from the classic musical lead up into a song. The people who were surprised it was a musical aren't paying attention. Plus the movie is based of the Broadway production that was made in 2017. Not the movie from 2004, do your research.

that’s exactly what’s making me mad with the response to this movie. it would be one thing if people just genuinely disliked the movie but a lot of people that dislike it have said that the reason it is terrible is because it was a musical. It’s not really a fair criticism to go and see a musical and then say you hated it because you hate musicals. it’s like buying a pink shirt and then giving a bad review to the person you bought it from because you don’t like pink.

i’m confused with some of the comments here. you guys do realize that this is not a remake of the original mean girls right? this is a movie adaptation of the mean girls broadway musical. i do agree that they should have aimed their marketing towards musical theater fans and i think it would’ve done better but a lot of these comments are saying things like “why did they have to make it a musical” or “this movie doesn’t need a remake”. it’s a musical because it’s a movie adaptation of a broadway musical, it was never a remake of the original Mean Girls.

Nothing can beat the original but some come close but this is so far off, first off the costuming in this movie so bad, nobody wears that stuff nowadays and you will never find popular girls wearing leather jackets or skinny jeans these producers don’t even know what high schoolers wear nowadays at least in the original it was similar to what teenage girls wore at that time. Also the acting, especially freaking Karen she annoyed me so much her acting was so bad she acted so stupid even though Karen’s character is supposed to be funny also but she was cringey and embarrassing and the acting was not good from Cady it was so awkward and not funny awkward, just awkward and all the acting was bad this whole movie was horrible
