I’ve known Mary a long time. She’s a wonderful person. I still can’t believe it when I hear people say “ I just discovered her.” It’s sad bc she’s more talented than anyone in Nashville. Extremely talented.

You have to have soul to put out music like this . I had that soul once ... I sang 4 God My heart was in everything I did I found the musicians were petty. and other singers resented me. I neve squezed anyone out I always admitted to the listeners they're better than me I was popular cause I was real. I gave it up when this twit dating my friend told me she sang at the Dove awards and I couldn't do Amazing Grace cause it was her song I did another. My friend told me they went upstairs and made love while I had the church busy with me. I'm a christian I try hard 2 follow the man. Made me sick. The one singer I could sing like was linda ronstat With hillbilly tweaks My brother ask years ago why I never sang anymore I told him I lost my song... I think Mary.s wonderful Can you tell her that from an old granny.. I love her style My people are blue grass folks 2 Linda Va.

But this is typical of Nashville. Pre-COVID, at least, I'd truthfully tell people not from around here that they might hear someone over dinner playing for tips and the hopes of "discovery" who's better than anyone on a pop country chart. Only a tiny fraction of my favorite country artists are popular. The fact talent doesn't sell like it used to is a sad commentary on society.

Mary has to be one of the most creative banjoists around today. Her performances offer a refreshing reprieve from the sometimes hidebound Scruggs vs. Old-Time banjo camps. She is a creative singer/songwriter--who happens to play a mean banjo.
