Not sure I've seen DJ talk so much about his golf. He normally just comes across as a cross between exceptionally naturally talented and not really having any idea what he's doing technique-wise. He clearly feels comfortable talking to you guys as he really opens up about what he's doing with these pitches
@NovaScene5 жыл бұрын
Dude, really.. "not having any idea" 😂He is only the best wedge player on tour, won 3 times last season, was OWGR1, ofcourse he has everything technique-wise and idea-wise down to the smallest margin..

Excellent point. DJ is such an incredibly athletic golfer, he definitely has that quiet, don’t otherthink it athletic mindset that’s a big help to him. I’ve also never seen him this analytic. I wonder if it’s because it’s offseason...
@henrickemmerson41405 жыл бұрын
@@NovaScene Am pretty sure that you've missed my point. If you ask DJ how to hit a certain shot his usual response is along the lines of "I just hit it." The fact that he can hit any shot is why he's so successful but he rarely articulates any technique into what he's doing. This is why I mention him being so naturally talented
@KingRo5505 жыл бұрын
Steven Harrison you’re wrong. The truth is that these two morons are the cross ones and who think they can breath an air of superiority around someone like DJ. They try to act too cool and come off are douchy. They should be praising and revering him. And obvious he knows what’s he’s doing...he plays golf for a living. He said “I just hit it” bc he’s a feel player, which is what most good players are. He also prob said that bc he likely doesn’t wanna put much effort into a video for dumb and dumber here.

Really enjoyed this, thank you. So interesting to hear DJs points. He is so right, we all have a favourite club, so without realising it, a favourite distance. Same with wedges and distances. To hear the best player in the world say, no, wouldn't leave one of those, what a lesson to all of us! Oakmont

Who would have ever thought even 2 years ago that you could start a channel on youtube and have access to the No1 golfer in the world like this for a casual Q&A session. Amazing stuff guys.
@Dances_With_Skies Жыл бұрын
I really like how he locks his wrists almost before taking the club back. I have done this on the range to help groove a feel and what I like about it is there really aren’t a lot of moving parts. From the shoulders down it’s all one piece and from there it’s just back to a spot on the clock with the left arm to create a distance - and through. They talk about the head going towards the target but really it’s the belt buckle and head all moving as one piece as well - finishing at the target.

Oakmont. DJ’s such a cool customer. The only time I remember seeing him somewhat out of character was when he hit that long putt to get into the playoff at the Northern Trust against Spieth. I think he was as shocked as anyone when he made it. 😳

Great info, important take away, notice how the current number 1 player in the world plays to a certain club distance (he doesnt just try to get his approach shot as close as possible). High handicappers should also play to have a full swing distance approach shot. They would be more likely to hit that number as opposed to trying to reduce a club to a lower distance. The calculated layup works.

That was cool at the beginning when he was talking about the little long drive contest between him and Rory that they showed in the earlier episode they did for the unveiling of the new TaylorMade equipment. DJ beat Rory but it was by the tiniest of margins. Everybody knows how far DJ hits it, but it still blows me away after all these years to see just how freakin far Rory hits the ball. DJ has probably got 6”-8” on him as Rory is like 5’8” and DJ I believe is 6’4”. That long spindly body and great flexibility is what gives DJ that massive length on the course but Rory doesn’t have that height in his frame to give him that speed. This makes The fact that Rory is right there with the longest guys on tour even more awesome. Rory is able to get his crazy length from perfect technique good flexibility and crazy fast rotation with his hips. But honestly it’s just awesome to watch these guys out there smashing the golf ball and overpowering these golf courses. Good times!!
