you are not measuring heat energy, you are measuring the temperature of the water. Misleading title... Oh and an ad of the 'cool' thermometer.

I wonder how metrological dept measures the day temperature, do they put thermometer outside in the sun or inside in the room, for how long the measurement is taken?
