"The Maul." Derived from the French word "maillet" (the same word we get "mallet" from), a maul is a type of medieval sledgehammer that was initially used by archers to drive stakes into the ground for their defenses, but was later adapted into a proper melee weapon when it proved good at dispatching the schmucks who came too close. Afterwards, it was used to crush ribcages through chest plates in a fist-sized radius, rather than crush the skull with the golf ball sized helmet strikes of other war hammers. The head of a maul was bigger than that of a typical war hammer. Edit: why the hell did I say war hammers pierced armor. What was I thinking?

The flesh target pales in comparison to Paul Harrell's Patented* Meat Target™* Intended Target Simulator™*, which, for those who haven't seen it before, is Pork Steak 'Pectorals' followed by Pork Ribs, A bag of oranges to simulate lung tissue, another layer of Pork Ribs on the back, and covered by four layers of Tee Shirt on the front and four layers of Tee Shirt on the back. Paul also uses The New and Improved High Tech Fleece Bullet Stop™* which is fourty-eight layers of fleece secured to the target with a bungee cord. It's a low-cost alternative to Kevlar or other aramid-fiber bullet stops, so it isn't entirely essential. If you want to simulate larger game or perhaps a linebacker, you can up your Meat Target™* to the Magnum™* model using Beef Steaks, Beef Ribs, and a pair of Watermelons. Covering fabric is mostly to contain everything and can vary from cotton to leather to synthetics. *Paul Harrell neither endorses this promotion of his jury-rigged target simulation methods nor asserts that his method is necessarily the best, and generally encourages you to be the judge**. Indications of Patents or Trademarks are not factual and purely for humorous effect. **This is meant to imply that you should assess the applicability of the aforementioned Meat Target, and not that you should be nor consider using any form or variation of a Taurus Judge as they are objectively and unambiguously awful.

Man, with the way those things 'Shroom out, I'd imagine getting hit with one would be almost universally fatal, at least if you're hit anywhere on the torso. Those wounds would be nigh on impossible to close up. Also, that thing doesn't make "Wound tracks" it makes Death Channels.
