Another masterpiece from Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman. With Meat Loaf's background in theatre and acting, this is one of his best songs and videos. The woman in the video is Dana Patrick, a model doing a fantastic job of lip-syncing. Her actual voice is Loraine Crosby. This is a Beauty and the Beast theme but with a touch of Bram Stoker's "Dracula" thrown in.

This was actually a comeback of sorts for him during the 90's! A reminder if you will paying homage to the first blockbuster album that put him on the map back in the 70's which was called "Bat Out Of Hell!!" One of two "huge" hits from that album was called "Paradise By The Dashboard Lights" which became a "teenage anthem" for my generation🤭😄😆 And then of course there was "the ballad"💔😭😂🤣 It's called "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad!!" Both are "epic!!" You should check them out when you get the chance👍✌️❤️🤟🎸🎶

It's actually from 1993. You should definitely listen to his other songs. If you like theatrics you're in the right place with Meat Loaf. He was known for his dramatic and theatrical performances. His 1977 album "Bat out of hell" is a banger. "Bat out of hell" and "Paradise by the dashboard light" are great examples of his theatrical and energetic stage performance. Another great song from 1993 is "Objects in the rear view mirror (may appear closer than they are)". He doesn't just sing a song, he literally lives it. He plays different characters in every song. And he always gives 150% on stage.

That is not true though dude. This song went to number one all around the world. Paradise really was not that big a hit, no matter how many times it was released. Belgium, Canada and Netherlands were the only countries it landed well in the charts in its first release. Second release it only charted in the Netherlands. And third release, you guessed it, only charted in the Netherlands. I would do anything topped the UK charts for seven weeks, and went to number one in 28 countries in total.

@@metoo7557 You are talking out of your arse mate. I just provided you with facts. You provide me with unsubstantiated opinions. As for it's length, you are obviously don't know what you are talking about. The album track may be over 8 mins, but for the single it was edited down to just over five. They also did the same for Bat out of hell which is a longer song at nearly 10 mins but has been edited down to 7 mins and just short of 5 mins, and was released as a single before Dashboard and for anyone who was around back then (which I seriously doubt you was) that was the more famous song. Bohemian Rhapsody was nearly 6 mins long and the band out and out refused to have an edited version of the song, and you tell me that long songs were unusual, yet that released 3 years before Bat or Dashboard. Seriously accusing someone of being a liar who can actually tell you these facts and all you can do is say "I am right" and stamp your feet like a petulant child, is laughable. Now off you go to play with your collection of Pokemon or whatever toys it is you shove up your arse.

This was from 1993... the Meat Loaf sequel album 'Bat out of Hell II: Back into hell'... The original 'Bat out of Hell' was a huge hit record in 1977 w/ both records written & composed by (the late) Jim Steinman, who was (1 of) Meat Loaf's key songwriters. Sadly, Meat Loaf passed away in early 2022 at age 74. Singer/actor Michael Lee Aday was from Texas... he was an overweight American football player in school and his coach gave him the name 'Meat Loaf'... but his passion was theater and singing as a teen. His home life was troublesome... he left home after his mom died and moved to California to become a rock singer. In the early 70's, Meat Loaf worked odd jobs and theater roles in Los Angeles and eventually met aspiring songwriter Jim Steinman while he also sang in a rock band ... the two worked on music together, but no record labels were interested. In 1973, Meat Loaf was cast in the original musical 'The Rocky Horror Picture show'... and appeared in the movie. He also recorded vocals for a 1976 album by Ted Nugent... Meat Loaf was finally signed in 1977 and his collaboration album w/ Jim Steinman was released as 'Bat out of hell'... It became a massive international hit, selling 43 million copies worldwide - 15 million in the US to date. Before all the theatrical bands that fused classical and theatrical music w/ hard rock music (Nightwish, T.S.O, Avantasia...) Meat Loaf broke new ground w/ 'Bat out of hell' in that style of music in 1977... Meat Loaf also toured for the record and was a live sensation as well w/ his huge, operatic voice and distinct image ... Unfortunately, vocal issues delayed a 2nd Meat Loaf album... when 'Dead ringer' was finally released in 1981, the album was a commercial disappointment... Label lawsuits and legal troubles bankrupted Meat Loaf in the 80's... He was forced to record new music and tour in Europe and other parts of the world and his collaboration w/ Jim Steinman had soured. Thankfully, Meat Loaf finally resolved his legal issues and re-teamed w/ Jim Steinman in 1993 to deliver the sequel album 'Bat out of hell II; Back into hell' ... The single "I'd do anything for love" was a #1 hit worldwide and the album sold 15 million copies worldwide as Meat Loaf made a huge comeback. Subsequent albums were not as successful ('Welcome to the neighborhood' in 1995... "Couldn't have said it better" in 2003...) but Meat Loaf was still successful at touring and making new music... A legal dispute w/ Jim Steinman resulted in a 3rd 'Bat out of Hell' album being released in 2006 with only a few Steinman songs - "Bat out of hell III: The monster is loose" did well, included a Steinman single originally written & recorded for pop star Celine Dion ("It's all coming back to me now") in the 90's. After 2010, Meat Loaf was declining in health and unable to sing as he had in the past... Jim Steinman was also declining health-wise, so the 2 made peace and recorded Meat Loaf's final album 'Braver than we are' in 2016... using past tracks that Steinman had written. Meat Loaf had to stop touring soon after due to his failing health. Jim Steinman died in 2021... Meat Loaf passed away soon after in 2022... The singer's political views overshadowed his music in later years, but he is still a legend in rock music. Meat Loaf classic songs - 'Rock n roll dreams come through' ... 'You took the words right out of my mouth' ... 'Not a dry eye in the house' ... 'The Monster is loose'... "Two out of three ain't bad" ... 'Midnight at the lost & found' ... 'Life is a lemon & I want my money back' ... 🔥🔥

Michael Aday, also known as Meatloaf, was one hell of a singer. He teamed up with songwriter Jim Steinman on some of the most creative works of music ever done. You saw that one, check out Objects in the Rearview Mirror (Are Closer Than They Are), Rock and Roll Dreams Come True, It's All Coming Back to Me Now, and then, for fun, Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. If you've ever seen the movie Rocky Horror Picture Show with Tim Curry, you've seen Meatloaf on the screen doing the part of Eddie, singing Hot Patootie/Bless My Soul. He was also, non-singing, in Fight Club and several other movies and TV shows. He was quite the accomplished man. We lost him a couple years ago, sadly. He was my favorite of all time.

I love watching movies and Meat Loaf comes pops up out of nowhere and I’m thumping on whatever/whoever is closest to me screaming “That’s Meat Loaf!!!” Which then my kids ask who he is and my response to them is always “he is the definition of Rock’n Roll.” Party on Meat Loaf.

Bat Out of Hell (1977, I believe) is another iconic song worth listening to and different to most of their work. (You'll love it). Be sure to react to the full album version. (Radio edit cuts out too much). 🙂

A song that will get to you is a one hit wonder by studio musicians calling themselves THINK. The song is Once You Understand. It's a shocker that you may be left in tears 😢😭😢 over the ending. Song is very relevant as much today as it was in 1971.

Other songs with a similar style from the same songwriter and prolly some of the same musicians: "Making Love (Out Of Nothing At All)" / Air Supply; "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" / Céline Dion. Other good songs Meat recorded: "Nowhere Fast"; "Left in the Dark"; "Original Sin"; "Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through"; "Life Is A Lemon And I Want My Money Back"; "Everything Louder than Everything Else".

Really enjoyed this reaction Millie :) I recommend checking out a 3 sister rock band from Mexico that have an incredibly infectious energy. The Warning⚡ is made up of Daniela (Guitar, Lead Vocals), Paulina (Drums, Vocals) & Alejandra (Bass, Backing Vocals) 2014 their cover of Enter Sandman by Metallica went viral (14, 12, 9 yrs old respectively). Since then they’ve gone from strength to strength, opening for Foo Fighters, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Muse along with their own headline tours. I don’t have any song recommendations because they’re honestly all fantastic and they don’t just play in one genre. Anything from “Live at Teatro Metropólitan (CDMX)” will showcase their current live wall of sound.

I'd suggest checking out "Objects in the Rear-view Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are" - Also by Meat Loaf, written by Jim Steinman and the video is also directed by Michael Bay. This song was released in the early 90's, but I believe was written in the 1980's, but may have even been earlier (or at least parts of it). Jim Steinman was inclined to write songs and revisit them, or use part of them in another song. Jim came from a musical theatre background and so like you will see in many musicals themes are re-used. Pretty much all of his major works were to be in a re-working of Peter Pan that he was constantly updating, originally called "The Dreamengine" later becoming "Neverland" and Finally released as "Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical." (The story of the development is actually very complicated)

The song was from the 90s, from his Bat Out of Hell 2 album. He originally came out during the 70s, and pretty much started the kind of rock opera genre. You should watch the video for Bat out of Hell, and Paradise by the Dashboard Light.

Ah, the middle-length video version. The real one, which gets you _all_ of the intensity and all the dynamics that are somewhat cut up here and in the radio edit, is 12 minutes and worth every damn second of it.

I'm sure some have said by now - but this is early 90's, but beyond that I think you nailed it!! Meatloaf (r.i.p) was a very unique & powerful talent & every song sung & video made is an epic movie-like masterpiece! (fun fact: video directed by Michael Bay if memory serves!) I'd recommend the amazing ''Objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are'' from the same album - a haunting & beautiful track that hits the emotions hard! 😁

That was taken from Bat Out of Hell 2 which was a long awaited follow up to Bat Out of Hell which was a phenomenal album that took him a number of years to release because he couldnt get a record company to take a chance with it, to their sorrow. The video for that song was founded in the old story "Beauty and the Beast" Like all his videos they were all theatrical to marry with his Rock Opera Genre

Loved your reaction, you clearly understand greatness when you see it . This video and song are spectacular. Meatloaf invented “rock opera” and it’s beautiful. Check out his live version of “two out of three ain’t bad” and listen close to the lyrics. Always react to Meat live, and his earlier performances while he was still in his prime.

Seeing as how The Who had already done "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia" before Meat Loaf's 1st album "Bat Out Of Hell", you could hardly claim that Meat invented "rock opera". (And to say nothing of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody".) However, he (along with Jim Steinman) certainly reinvented the genre.

This song was from 1993. The video is a cross homage to Beauty and The Beast and Bram Stroker's Dracula. It also won a Grammy for Rock Vocal Performance. I can't believe you haven't heard Paradise By the Dashboard Light! 😳. There was a sort of follow up to this song in 1995 called "I'd Lie For You (And That's The Truth).

I'm sure that it's been said on here already, but no - this is actually a 90's song! Early 90's, as it was released in 1993, but that's still in the 90's! xD I love this song and it's held in a very special place within me. :) I've been listening to this song since probably 1995 or so. HUGE fan of Meatloaf and his music. I hope that your journey into his releases goes very well and I'm looking forward to seeing more. :D
