I don't care what anyone says, this is in the top ten most beautiful songs ever written. Meatloaf had an iconic, rich voice that put him among the ranks of Elvis, George Jones, Bonnie Tyler, Grace Slick and Freddie Mercury. They are all voices of the century, 20th, that is. Anybody reading this, feel free to add your own iconic picks.

My oldest brother was getting heavily into hard rock and heavy metal music can you put this album on and this was the first song I heard. I was in my room and I heard him playing the song on his record player. I immediately got up and opened his door to his room and I just stood there at the doorway listening to this song. After the song was over we sat on his bed and just listen to the entire album. The song came out in 1977 I probably heard it right around 1983 for the first time has my brother was collecting records and he had just bought this record. It is one of the best albums in history in my books I haven't heard this song and probably two decades and I can still sing a word for word

@The mysterious Miss X you've only listened to the first half of the song ain't you? Because it's about a guy repeating the behavior that was done to him by the woman he loved... Grow a brain, it's a story song like all Steinmans work. The chances of you singing even on Meats level is so miniscule I think you need help just for your bizarre claim. Edit... Damn just heard your singing and by comparison its awful. Not bad for an amateur but not on Loafs level not even close.

he was such a great performer. an old school stage man, as was steinman, they brought that to rock n roll. listening to interviews recently he's saying things like ' he became the song'. so true! him and steinman had a real kinship in Jim's music, no one could sing it like meatloaf

Nah everybody knows Meat ( Marvin Aday) was an icon. He was an extremely talented artist. He had commercial success for decades. This song was from the late 70s and he was on MTV with his bat out of hell video in the 90s. It’s a shame his last years were spent in chronic pain. He is missed.

"Underrated and under appreciated".......Bat Out of Hell spent over 10 years, over a decade, continuously in the UK album charts ! Those sales were not based on record label hype or strings of hit records, or image, but rather on the merits of a masterpiece, a perfect combination of a master performer working with a master songwriter. I first heard Bat Out of Hell at a friend's house and had to have a copy.... so did pretty much everyone else. I think one of Meat's biggest fears was losing his fanbase..........he need not have worried ! ❤
