But Frodo DOES lose life... When he gets back home, he can't be at peace there ever again, so he has to move on to the undying lands. He doesn't literally die, but it does"take his life"... the one he had in the Shire.

The weird Legolas mounting was done becasue Orlando Bloom had broken a rib, and they couldn't do a practical shot of him getting on a horse.

Legolas doesn't have much of an arc, but what you do see is him, an immortal elf, coming to grips with death. After Gandalf dies, he looks confused, then he is talking about how the Rohan people will die, and finally, (spoiler?) He is freaking out when he thinks Aragorn is going to die. It's suttle, but I really like his arc. There may be other scenes that I've missed which better represent this. Also, as others have mentioned, the prophecy is correct. Frodo can't return to his old life after everything that happened.
@BigArmBoss

Tolkien deliberately pushed Legolas more to the background. The elves are departing from Middle Earth, and Legolas' smaller part reflects their diminished role in the world.

Liv Tyler gets her lips from her father Steven Tyler. Having to say that makes me feel SOOOOOOO old. :( Also, Galadriel's prophecy is about how the Ring claims his life and dominates it. He is forever changed by it. Thank you for making such a quality show, I enjoy every minute! :D

@Carpool Critics. Legolas is very light and that’s how he is able to mount the horse in the way he does. If you see him when they are in the snow blizzard he is walking on top of the snow and everyone else is having to wade through it. Again because he is so light he doesn’t sink into the snow. Someone light enough to walk on snow would be light enough to get on a horse in the way he does. Not to mention how strong he is.

I saw all the other comments but its the internet I must correct a mistake. Frodo does "die" like the prophecy says! Because of the ring, Frodo is no longer the hobbit he was at the start of the trilogy and can never go back. His life as he knew it is gone, hence he leaves middle earth which sort of symbolizes his "death". Maybe you guys don't agree but anyway, great ep as usual, thoroughly enjoyed it. A CC review of the Harry Potter series would be interesting, you could join multiple movies into single eps. 1-3, 4-6 and 7-8 maybe? Although the 3rd could easily be its own ep.

Galadriel's prophecy represents what would happen if the elves don't help will happen. The elves were Galadriel's people, not Elrond. Also, the prophecy is to distract from Gollum, i.e. the end result of Bilbo's pity. Gandalf mentions that there is another power at work besides the wise and Sauron.

About how Legolas got up on the horse. He also walks on top of the snow in Fellowship, so I guess normal physics doesn't really seem to apply when it comes to him.

Happy Holidays gents! Love this channel...Movie buffs unite! Two Towers is alright...the final show down is the best part but it sort of moves slow. The production and special effects/acting is top notch but the story is meh....7 out of 10 for me. We need more indy movies reviewed. Such as GOOD TIME, UNCUT GEMS, and BLACK BEAR. Please review and discuss those...even if its just 20min discussion videos.

My favourite Christmas movie is... Princess Bride!!! Seriously, this movie have everything in it be it adventure, humour, action, romance, fairy tales vibes... So it's for everyone, adults and kids and the heart of it is about an awesome grandpa giving a gift to his sick grandson, (re)connecting with him by reading a book. You can't argue that it doesn't scream Christmas. What are your favourite non-Christmas / Christmas movies (a.k.a family movies)?

Regarding the quote from galadrial stating Frodo must give his life, she never states he'll die. Rather I believe it indicates his inability to live in middle earth and must leave and go to the undying land where life and death is trivial. Hence he does give his life as predicted

My emotional triggers are when Theoden is changing back into normal normal self and draws his sword (the sword is a freaking beast too, I love it). And the other is where Gandalf and Aragorn are talking and Gandalfs reaction to learning Sam went with Frodo.

Galadriel saying "He will pay for the Ring with his life" is just meant as a dark omen. In their world NO MORTAL BEING has ever been able to resist the temptation of The One Ring. I think she is just warning him that he will likely die, because thats what they expect. They have HOPE that he will resist and Good will overcome, but it is very unlikely.

I've read the books many times so there are many things that I appreciate from the extended cut that may have thrown you off a bit, and I'll concede a few things but these movies for those who are coming from the books are much greater than the sum of their parts. Even with the wonky bits here and there, cumulatively, it's a work of masterpiece.

I totally understand James' comment about having children affecting you emotionally. The first time freaked me out. Second point: This is the only film in the last 40 years to give me a nightmare. The elves dying at Helms Deep I found horrific. The fact that they weren't really there (bookwise) didn't help. I genuinely was awoken by the dream. I still look away even now when I watch the film again.

Your complaints about Legolas' movements and acrobatics is valid but complaining about physics after it's proven that Elves have inherent deep, powerful magic is a large oversight. He walks on top of 5ft of snow in Fellowship. Elves aren't meant to be grounded and real, they are the last echo of the old ages.

34:26 - YES! Man, why so few people talk about this? It's awful! Jeez, why would they keep that in? It's the part that sticks out the most for me. Everything else is so good! Even him sliding down the oliphaunt's trunk in the next movie is good. Still cheezy, but competently done! This one? Ugh. I don't think even Corridor Crew talked about it when they analyzed this movie. I can't recall, at least. And it's one of the most jarring, friggin' vfx shots in that movie! That shot looks like a bug in a videogame.

I actually hate Sam the most. In this movie there was a part where he is like "I understand you Frodo" and right after just mocking Gollum which just undermined his last sentence of understanding what Frodo is going through. He is just dumb and jealous hobbit who in the end of the next movie barely restores himself. But I do wish that Gimli and Legolas would have more story to them. Would have made the films even better. Perhaps something that explains more of their kill counting.

How did knowing about Arwen further Aragorn's arc? She *was* his arc, along with restoring Gondor and Arnor and defending them. When Elrond learned they were in love, he told Aragorn he would give his daughter to no man less than the king of Gondor. You guys really need to ditch the "Oh man Aragorn is such a reluctant hero schtick". No he isn't. He has prepared his whole life for this quest. Btw, since you're on the "hope" theme, Elrond called Aragorn "Estel" ("Hope") when he was raising him in Rivendell.
