Talk about timing, I just spent this morning taking apart the base of my versa-Mec, not quite as rusty as yours, but close. Guy at one of the local gun shows only wanted $20 for it. I'll be using your videos once it's time to put it all back together

Yay, I hope it helps. Best advice I can give is video all the way around it before you start then video yourself taking it apart. Then you can watch your own video when you reassemble. Thanks for watching and helping me get to 1K subs.

I picked up a well used 20ga 600Jr. for free a few months ago and you've inspired me to tackle the re-build, thank you! My crimping die is rusty on the inside so I'm thinking after derusting like you did, I'll try to polish it by wrapping some 000 or 0000 steel wool around an old bore brush and chucking it in the drill and polish away. If I have trouble removing the re-priming ram, I'll try a impact screwdriver. If I can get the driver on the screw, a few taps should break it loose in short order. I see you have the older model of of the 600Jr. that uses the 3-piece wad guide assembly. Know that the plastic Hornady wad guide fingers work well as a replacement. I understand MEC no longer supplies replacement fingers in 12ga. Great video. Thanks again!

Yay, so glad it helped! Video yourself disassembling piece by piece so you can see how it goes back together. Had I not done that I never would have gotten it back together right. I need to look into some new parts. Thanks for watching!

It is really easy to upgrade the pre 82 assembly to the mark 5 wad guide. Just need the new slide and was guide. Very little removal to get it in! I like the early model deprimer/ resizer and pre crimp. They are full metal. The replaceable ring for 6 or 8 crimp work better. Ballistic products sell the crown crimper that is fantastic to use.

Bought the early model of Mec Jr, from a guy selling a bunch of shot, for $50 to help him out. After 3 trips to get parts to convert it to 28 gauge, to a guy who is a Mac dealer in Issaquah that's 40 minutes away. It was $50 away from his new price! Only did it for speciality loads. As I have PW 800 plus in 4 different gauges. This stuff can get spendy!

Yeah' I'd like to get the 16 gauge dies for this one. I haven't thought of that until now. I have an old sweet 16 that I'd like to shoot but not for $1 a shot. Thanks for watching and the idea!

Thank you for the video. I wish you wouldn't have sped up the video at the end when you were putting all the dies back in.

Looks the same as one I see on eBay. Still trying to talk myself into a 600 Jr over a Load All 2 instead. Haha

I did! If shells keep going up I’ll get back to reloading. I’m under a 100 boxes of 12’s. I have a 16 gauge reloader as well. I may get the Sweet 16 out of retirement.

@@KingsOutdoorLife you wrote boxes, did you mean to? I try to keep 1 case ahead. Which is only 250 rounds of 12 gauge

YES, cleaned up fine and I loaded all our Pheasant loads to got to South Dakota that year and Montana 2 years since. Everything was surface rust and it cleaned up just fine. I was glad I did the video or I never would have gotten the thing back together correctly. Check out my hunting videos. Very satisfying to drop birds with your own loads.
