You must pump the handle up and down the same number of times you would if you were loading. There are 5 cycles of the handle on a MEC 600 jnr between powder throws. This settles the powder into the bushing and the bushing will throw heavier than just a single stroke. This is why MEC says bushings throw lighter in the 650 progressive than in the 600 jnr single stage, because in the progressive there is a powder charge thrown for each pull of the handle and much less settling. Really the only way to test the powder throw of a bushing accurately is to sample during a cycle of the full loading process so that powder settling is the same as would be expected when actually loading.

Agreed. You want to mimic the loading process as closely as possible in order to get an accurate reading of what is actually being dropped.. Have your bottles at least half full, both propellant and shot. And while you'er at it check the shot side of the charge bar as well. Different sized shot will throw a different weight.

Thanks for the video. Since you want 18.9 grains but the chart bushing only gave you 17.5 do you now start going up numerically to get closer too 18.5? Also what kind of scale are you using?

I just picked up a brand new MEC 600 jr. Mark V.....never used from 1987 (got it from a friend). It came with only 1 bushing....#33. I have only shot clays and started reloading. I am using HODGDON International Clay powder. I am hoping I am not over doing it! (i.e. Heavy Load). In your personal opinion, is a 26 bushing good for reloading 2-3/4" shells dropping 1-1/8 oz. of #7-1/2 lead shot?

Keith Schlotthauer Keith, I recommend picking up a copy of Lyman's Shotshell Reloading Handbook 5th Ed. They have hundreds of reload recipes. Ballistics and chamber pressures vary based on the combination of primer, powder and wad.
