My take on DEF is while you do have to add it - another cost - the engine breaths better and it only makes power. With EGR you are throttling it / limiting output and you do have the regen cycles that often occur at exactly the wrong time and place if you don't monitor it Nice unit overall - new technology is great and hopefully you can make it fit your operation and learn how to apply it. I enjoy your videos very much and am right there in the cab with you - very well done - keep up the good work.

Hi I'm Nico from France first sorry for my English I'm not very good obviously I'm French so Mecalac start in1974 but the first great machine was on the market in 1984 the 11cx the 11cx has already the same boom (not exactly the same design but same functionality ) as today's machines they make other machine over the years: the 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 but 99 % are the 12 : 12mx, 12msx, 12mxt,12 mtx it’s a wheel articulated frame with the turret on the front and the engine on the second part in France we name the engine "the back-pack" because it’s always behind you it’s strong, powerful, multi-purpose and very good in city in narrow street on mine 11cx ( 1989) it’s a Deutz engine. Deutz make very strong and fuel-efficient engine .they also mount Perkins and Cummins Mecalac is a small company but they expand the variety of machine: wheel-loader,Swing Shovel Loaders ,wheeled excavator ,crawler excavator, wheel dumper … They’re expensive because they’re alone on the market and a very small company the firms employs 400 people in five factory in 2018 Mecalac as the same color of Volvo because they was own by Volvo during few year in 90s and keep the color since On a Mecalac you don’t forget to grease grease and grease, so many joint and shafts this is the weak point if you don't grease for impress your dealer you can say MECALAC mean MECAnique du LAC (lac d’Annecy) mechanical of lake www.mecalac.com/en/about-us.html i hope i was understandable see you from France Nico

I like this thing, but I also like the Menzi Muck as well. What did this thing cost you out the door? It's too bad they can't do standard bobcat attachments, I have a small fortune in bobcat attachments. Are their attachments costly? What's the flow rating on these things, high flow? what's the reach? I would worry about in skid steer mode that it would put a lot of force on the rotary section of the machine eventually wearing out the bearings.

Hello KarasCyborg, thank you for your interest in our brand and products! If you want to have more information on our machines, spare parts or need a demo, please contact your nearest dealer with the detailed information available here: www.mecalac.com/en/the-mecalac-distribution.html or contact us directly on our website. For your attachments, we have recently launched a new ISO 24410 universal skid steer adaptor hitch compatible with the MCR Series. This allows you to use your own attachments on the Mecalac MCR. If your attachments are for an excavator, adapting brackets are available also. The 10MCR has 2 hydraulic pumps: 26 US gpm for the boom and tool + 2x26 US gpm for the tracks and the maximum reach is 24'7'' / 7500mm. You can find all the detailed information on this machine here: www.mecalac.com/en/machine/10mcr.html. Have a nice day. The Mecalac Team

Well I can finally comment on something I know more about. I have operated the rubber tired version of this machine but slightly bigger. They are articulated in steering. The problems I had was when you steer you change the lifting point and where the counter weight is. I came close 2 times flipping it over. Yes it can be used in many ways BUT since the tilt/rotor system came out now any excavator can be used like a loader. Have you ever used a tilt/rotor? I could not think of running my excavators without it.

That boom is a 2-piece boom they are used a lot in europe and the UK. Some call them variable angle booms. They are options on a lot of machines they just aren't that popular here yet. It has a bigger digging envelope then one piece booms. I think Rotobec makes a logging grapple like the Valby. You might look on their web site Rotobec.com. Rotobec also has a KZbin page and they show different attachments being used.

I like the quick coupler, looks like it would stay “rattle free” tight forever and looks like it doesn’t require being in some impossible perfect position to pick up stuff every time you want to change. I was wondering a couple of things though if you have time to answer? 1. Will it travel the same speeds in each mode or is one faster than the other? 2. How far does that boom “swivel” to the side, will it say line up the skid steer grapple square so that if you are tramming sideways you can look straight out of the windshield at what would be a cutting edge if it had a bucket instead of the grapple? 3. How would you compare its power in excavator mode to your kx80? It may have been an illusion in the video but at the start you were grabbing what appeared to be a pretty good sized log that was dragging the ground and were able to swing with it like nothing, it appeared to have a ridiculous amount of swing power. I ask about the pivoting boom because instantly I was thinking if you could use that skid steer adapter to hook up a high flow brushcutter like a ground shark you could also switch to excavator mode to do ditches and slopes and hanging branches as well as reach way, way up on tall stuff all without the “turf” damage of making a million turns. That’s when I got to thinking about that pivot point in the boom, if it would turn a full 90 degrees you could also mow roadsides from the road as you tram along if it makes enough flow to run stuff like that, it certainly has enough HP and I guess it does have enough flow since they sent a mulcher. Nice to finally see some footage of one being worked in real applications. Also just my 2 cents on the future testing of the takeuchi 290, that are nice machines but take a look at the takeuchi 280fr before you commit, roughly the same weight but you have those mulchers and that 280 trumps about everything in hydraulic flow, they really lay it down and are where it’s at if you want to efficiently spin some thirsty attachments. I know Kubota recently bumped up the flow on the new kx080 but I think it’s around 27gpm, and that new cat highflow 308 or 309 is 34gpm but the tak 280 is 39gpm! It’s a tlv12 on the end of a boom. 😎

Hello 1978caterpillar, Thank you for your interest in our brand and products. Please find below the answer to your questions: 1- Yes, same speed for both modes. In skid mode, the machine controls are just like in a skid: you can move the machine with the left joystick. In excavator mode, you can use the pedals. 2- I don't understand the question: could you please rephrase? The max offset of the boom is 6'8'' / 2034mm to the right and 5'9'' / 1775mm to the left. 3- Yes, mowing the grass on the side of roads, or cutting branches while turned at 90° or using the offset is possible, no issue.
