I would actually be surprised if LEGO Technic incorporated an Automatic Transmission in their Supercars. And yes, I know, real life Automatic Transmission Cars have computers and electronics that also monitor the speed, but there have been a few people online who have actually made Automatic Transmissions via differentials and the white clutch gear. I would like to see a full-on LEGO Technic Automatic Transmission though.
@Unbrickme5 ай бұрын
Yes I agree! I’m sure some sort of torque sensor could be developed for the control+ system and then we have an automatic transmission. I don’t think differential with clutch gear is such a great idea. Gears inside the differential will slip, or the clutch gear will be so worn out that it won’t function properly anymore

Hi there, I have just finished building Box 1 and noticed an issue that I’m not sure if you’ve encountered as well. When I reverse from upshifting to downshifting, or vice versa, the ratchets tend to jam one shift action before it works again. I’m quite confident that I built it correctly and followed the arrow directions on the orange cylinders.

Do you know how the friction holds up in this drivetrain? As in does the motor struggle with the higher ratios and/or did you test driving it with your hands and seeing if there were any slips or cracking from too much friction like the previous models? When I had the Lambo, it would often crack in certain gears from the high friction when pushing it by hand long enough.

Something to remember: The engine powers the car, or the electric motor kicks in and handles some of that (or all of it?). When the engine is showing high RPM, you are in 1st gear or another low gear. At the highest gear, which would be "OD" (OverDrive), the engine RPM should closely match the wheel RPM. Now, let's buy a sound brick, connect it to a lithium battery block tied to a 2.4GHz remote, and throw some engine exhaust notes into this car. 🙂 Other bricks are available, and they throw off a "dash" of steam with a red light shining through it, for more "effects". It is easier to supply power to these cars using motors connected to wheels. See if there is a way to power the car by putting the power to the actual source of power, the simulated engine in the back. Most R/C upgrades drop the engine and the tranny for room for the extra parts. Next, figure out a way to go through all of those 8 speeds using a remote. I would LOVE to see this kit drive, 1st, 2nd, etc. to 8th gear and steer right or left, all remote control. I don't have the talent to figure this out, but I know MOC designers do.

can some one explain why the 7th gear is the slowest
@UnbrickmeАй бұрын
Can't do that I'm just an intern
@UnbrickmeАй бұрын
Sorry about that. I have an intern replying to all of my comments. The real reason why the 7th is the slowest, is because the wheels spin at the same speed. So, in a real car, the engine works at the same speed across all speeds, and so the output in the wheels, changes speeds. 1st makes the wheels slowest, and the 7th makes the wheels spin the fastest. I am powering the wheels using a motor. I am not powering the engine, and we are not looking at the resulting speed of the wheels. So, you just gotta think in reverse. If the wheels spin at the same speed across all speeds, then the engine will change speeds, but it will be the opposite. So, the highest speed will make the engine work at the slowest speed, but the lowest speed will make the engine very fast. Does that make sense?

Definitely quite a complicated assembly. It's going to take a lot of time to get it right, double checking everything. The flaw I see in this design is the same flaw in all the 1:8 cars that use at least one or more rubber bands. Using the wrong ones will provide too much tension and may cause issues. According to "Common Sense 101", rubber bands will dry rot and break over time, snapping apart and falling off or into some other part of the car. Yes, I know. It's just a plastic toy car. By the way, Amazon and other sites want $$.$$ for replacement rubber bands, unless you can find them cheaper on other sites. Get spares, and expect them to get installed later on. Tweezers or needle nose pliers might come in handy.
