I have the dewalt 20v fan does pretty good on top of an air handler in an attic just for some air movement or boiler rooms where I can hang it on a pipe- I’m on all 3 battery platforms for various tools and was always curious about the Milwaukee fans- great comparison

For me the M18 has been great. It definitely needs a hook and some magnets but I think they’d have to fully redesign so the could make room for the larger ah batteries.

I would really like to see a new M18 fuel fan with updated features. I’m not sure why they won’t give us brushless on this.

One major flaw with the M18 Fan is that it won't sit flat with any battery 8 Ah or greater. If you sre comparing the box spec's the M18 has a max CFM(Cubic Feet per Minute) of 284 and top speed of 18 MPH while the M12 has a max CFM of 400 and speed of 14 MPH

Haven't seen anyone mention it on these fan reviews, but can any of these fans deliver decent air flow at a distance? Like 10-20ft? I'm a floor guy so ill be moving around and hope this can still give me decent air at a distance.

You want to be pretty close to them. I've used the 18v when in a scissor life and it works great for those distances. Wouldn't want to rely on it from 20 ft away, 10 ft would be pushing it. But still better than no air movement.

Why not forget that the M18 can be plugged into the wall so that you can run all day and night without a battery! 🤔

@@mechanical-hub i don't know about rarely, you must be doing real commercial building. When your in a tight bathroom remodel or need some air blowing for 8-14 hours, unattended, that is a valuable feature.

Totally agree it’s useful. Just about everyone I know with the M18 runs on batteries only. I see the Dewalt plugged in occasionally but that’s easy because it’s 120V

Biggest difference: m18 lets you plug the fan in. m12 can only run from battery.

Too bad the M12 does not have a 120v for secondary power source. The Dewalt has a base for a threaded tripod or mounting plate. Out of all 3 I would suggest going with Dewalt even though I use Milwaukee. Dewalt fan and Dewalt 20v pressure washer is my two summer tools I use regularly.

Ridgid is also a great fan. Very comparable to the Dewalt in power and mounting options, but Dewalt is almost double in price for whatever reason.

Milwaukee needs a misting fan already. I tried holding out but I caved and bought the ryobi fan with misting feature. It’s such an awesome fan but now, I have a two slime green chargers and multiple slime green batteries.

M12 is spec to have 400cfm and 14mph wind M18 is spec to have 286cfm and 18mph wind So according to the specs provided m12 moves more volume at a lower speed which would suggest larger diameter than m18 but obviously does not, to me it seem like the 400cfm is wrong but idk

Correction, M18 fan spec is 284 CFM, and btw it’s a good point bringing air volume and air speed of these fans, and I also don’t think air volume SHOULD necessarily suggests a bigger diameter in fan housing and bigger fan blades. Factually, I have no means/tools to scientifically test these two specs, but I’ve noticed that: The more air volume (cfm) …. The less air speed (mph) and vice versa .

Maybe the M18 and M12 have different blade design.
@MarzNet256
@MarzNet256 2 жыл бұрын
@@LawAbidingCitizen117 Yes. A more angled blade can push more air, even at a lower rpm, and shorter blade length. They probably altered the shape of the blades as well to optimize air flow (cfm).

M12 magnets are amazing. They stick to the front of scissor lifts with no problem. Use it all day long pulling cable through rafters.

My m12 tripod light has hybrid power not sure why they would not make that available on a fan at that price point

Probably so they can make more money on batteries. Honestly they'd make more money if they had the AC adapter and pass through charging with the charging outputting 6ah.

I think Milwaukee thought like: Aye, we gonna make small 12v fan that have the most features, and no plug-in feature necessary, cuz it’s small, 💯 portable and more of personal space fan.. nobody would really use a cord while hanging it on metal or clamping the fan, go with the bigger 18v if you want cords .

My M12 lasts 2 full 8 hour days on a single battery. My M18 easily lasts a full day. I've never even thought of plugging in the M18 as I've never needed to.
