I'm so glad to see this review. Despite the issues I'm buying it at 6pm the minute it goes on sale on Steam. On this PC it's going to look beautiful. I'm going to pin my hopes that modders will only improve on the game in time. I love this channel and your content and am so damn glad I stumbled onto this channel by mere accident. For once KZbin gave me a great channel recommendation. Ty for the review.

@@dantauche7917 Mods didn't help the base game too much. After how many years now, the MW5 mod selection is basically still a bunch of AI tweaks, some cosmetics and a big mechlab.

If MW5 just had more customization options and some sense of actually impacting the map, e.g territories changing hands, then it would have been my dream mech game. A linear story game was an interesting path to take it, I'm very interested 😁

This felt in many ways more like mechassault than mechwarrior. Since I'm playing it on the gamepass cloud with an xbox 1x. it's a bit graphically restricted, but still HIGHLY playable. ESPECIALLY if you grew up playing primarily on older pc's and early generation consoles. I've ALWAYS used a mouse and keyboard to play mechwarrior games but it wasn't until I played using a controller that my enthusiasm for both MW5 and MW5: Clans reignited.

MechWarrior2 is one of the most pivotal games ever made. Even the market for these types of games has essentially disappeared, i'm so glad there's still a niche band of players of these games. Armored Core 6 sales can attest

​@kenshinhimura9387 while it is lack luster the coop is peer to peer without a centralized server so people brining their own mechs to a coop session would require significantly more development time and would likely introduce a large number of bugs/instances where the players would be complaining more than the system currently implemented.

8:01 my read on that is that the standard overlay is a part of your neurohelmet not the physical cockpit instruments. Kind of like fighter jets we have today.

5:34 little correction, the omni pod is the key feature and advantage of an Omni Mech. Going as attillery on Monday and as CQ on Wednesday.

As someone who already has 938 hours on MW5, with a custom HOTAS setup, i really hope they add proper HOTAS support, i can't wait to play the hell out of it. Hopefully, they have IIC mechs like the Phoenix Hawk IIC.

They said to expect largely the same roster as MWO, minus IIC mechs and non-appropriate era mechs. They said they're figuring out how to implement the IIC/second line mechs without it upsetting the invasion timeline too much due to us being in a front line galaxy largely piloting omni mechs. The Phoenix Hawk IIC also hasn't ever been done by PGI, so even when they do throw second line mechs in there I wouldn't hold your breath. I'm personally a bit sad I won't be able to use a Kodiak, but I guess this is a Smoke Jag centric story anyway

@@Battal_Gazi "Hands On Throttle And Stick" It's basically what you see people using for flight sims (outside of like, the commercial airliner sims. Think fighter jets.) People have been using these for years to play MechWarrior and while I don't personally find it appealing, there are some very skilled pilots who swear by it.

"We are not the good guys" It's Battletech. No one is. All factions are just different flavors of self-interested, just like the real world. Now, Smoke Jaguar committed some of the worst atrocities outside of glassing entire planets in Capellan style, so I'm interested in seeing how they justify their actions.

Clanners have a different sense of morality and live by a code, but to say they cant be nice or that they often aren't would be a stretch. Additionally, not everyone in the clans is a ruthless warrior. Other castes exist where they are more like people. Generally, the clans are honorable to a fault. They went through great pains to honor agreements and terms that their inner sphere counterparts would commonly outright disregard if it meant beating the clans. That quality and their "fair fight" approach to war was actually reminiscent of chivalric ideals, and it factually sabotaged their push for Terra. They played by rules, whereas the inner sphere saw war much more for what it was. Survival. It's not about who is the nicest and if you think that determines survival in any reality, I sincerely hope you never find yourself in such a situation because it can get you taken advantage of, or, at worst, killed.

always been kind of a casual fan of the battletech/mechwarrior stuff since 3050 on SNES/Battletech on the Genesis, so when i discovered the OG MW5 on Game pass, I was hooked all over again! really enjoyed stomping through missions laying waste to the enemy mechs and ships, and finishing the mission by the skin of my teeth! so if Clans is gonna give me more of that, I am definitely ready to dive in!

Should have been released on PC only. The Xbox version of this game has incredibly poor framerate. It stutters down to freezing at times. Needs better optimization before i try it again.

My only concern is I like to put in hundreds of hours into these games. Like I currently have many careers that have hundreds of hours in them in MW5, is there a campaign like mode that will keep me going after the story is done?

Great review sounds like it should have had a higher score though? everything looks and sounds great I didn't really see many negatives.. nobody thought this was a simulation Mech game.. if you played the others you know it's not Pure simulation ...sounds like an 8 or 8.5 to me.. especially cuz the cutscenes and Story look better than ever . Clearly making use of metahuman....but to each his own I guess... Piranha games is a great Studio they make good games

It's because the normies wouldn't even know to switch the controls. I can remember so many complaints when both MWO and MW5 launched from reviewers and such about being unable to control a mech because it didn't walk the way you were looking.

I would LOVE it if they made a new MechAssault game. MechWarrior is great, but the fast-paced arcade action of MechAssault is tons of fun, too.

Big fan of Mechwarrior. Issue is, I’m not really interested in spending money on a “serviceable” game. The AI being a letdown is the big factor for me. A little bit also there not really seeming to be any legs on the game when it comes to finishing the story.

Ive always been a clanner at heart and this release spoilers have left me very disappointed so far, im not really seeing anythimg clanlike outside of some logos and verbal references to me i feel its another case of we want the charaters to feel "relatable" thats why these "trueborn" trained from birth to be warriors look like snotnose teeagers,im not an expert nore have i played any of it yet but am i mistaken? All im saying is i expecting spartans and i got a bunch of nerds
