MrkBO8 imo this map is the best map in mechwarrior online, it's large, open, terrain is dynamic (higher and lower grounds) good for missles, lasers, light mech hunting or heavy mech fight

As super said, there is a sense of inertia. The shadowhawk being used is a 55 ton mech, and the heaviest mech is 100 tons. Use anything above 70 tons and it starts feeling slugish. Medium mechs are well-known for being maneuverable and having a perfect balance of armor, speed and weaponry.

Really contemplating the Shadowhawk for some dakka builds. Thus far Ive had good luck with my Jenner and Cicadas. Wouldnt mind something a little more hardy but still fast. My Banshee and Thunderbolts just tend to get scarfed by anything with a LRM launcher.

I've got a bit of a different setup for my Shadow Hawk. One Ultra AC/5, two Streak SRM 2's and a med laser. It does pretty well. I find that if I pace out my UAC5 shot to two round rapid bursts instead of holding down the fire button, it doesn't seem to jam.

Yes, And a lot of the Decent Battlemechs are mentally expensive, Weeks worth of grinding in order to get an Atlas, Or 15 Dollars to skip all that. You can see where I go from there.

There is defiantly inertia, He is in a medium mech so it has a shorter stop time and it is more maneuverable than heavy or assault mechs which take a long time to come to a complete stop and are very lumbering

The only thing you might have to buy if you want an extensive hangar is more mech bays. They are reasonably cheap though, gotta keep the lights on somehow. New mechs are pretty expensive, but if you just want variety, you can get new ones up to the lighter Heavies in a reasonable amount of time. I played for like a week and a half and had a second mech, plus an awful lot of expensive stuff for customizing both of them. If you are okay with some saving up, you won't have a problem.

Nothing more effective than putting more lead down-range, provided it hits the target. However, seeing that these are AC2s and you are at the controls, that's not a problem. Keep up the straight shootin!

There are no omni slots on the mechs because there simply are no omni mechs in the game right now. All Inner Sphere mechs have strict hardpoint restrictions.

In the hands of a good player, light 'Mechs are more dangerous than Assault 'Mechs. More often than not, the last 'Mechs left alive in a game are lights. As far as customization goes, every 'Mech can be customized - armor, weapons, speed. Some people spend more time customizing their 'Mechs than actually using them. When the new UI is released (hopefully in a few weeks), customization will be even easier.

I see that you run 2 AC2s? 3 are working like a charm for me! Heat isn't a big issue since you have to go hide a bit every once in a while no matter what, and the heat bleeds of pretty fast :)

I would get an XL engine and make that laser into a large laser or a large pulse laser. Probably pulse laser as you have long range covered with the AC-2s.

so, I wonder if they have Ultra AC's or Rotary AC's in yet. If they do, the Ultras can fire twice as fast, (for twice the heat) and Rotary AC's (only available in RAC-2 or RAC-5 flavors) can fire six times as fast. Sure they use ammo faster, weigh more, and put out more heat, but ONE Rotary AC-2 will put out as much damage as six standard ones, while weighing less than the total of six AC-2's do, and the Ultra AC's weigh less than two of the same-class AC would. Just some food for thought.

It looks like an amazing game, but I'm kind of underwhelmed by the sound effects. Also, from the looks of it, the mechs seem very nimble. Is there a definite feel of 'intertia' while playing? Or is this an fps with robots?

These are two really different games, if you prefer tactics & teamplay, go with MWO. Hawken feels and plays more like an fps, thus is more fast paced, try both it won't hurt.

Even though MWO has kinda gone down the tubes, they still use canon technology from the original MecTek ideas. "Electric fists" and "drills" weren't part of the canon, so they aren't a part of this game.

Mel Rabinowitz there were also many 'mechs that used axes, maces, and swords, as well as some, like the Atlas, that would just punch the crap out of you. Melee is a big thing in Battletech.

Yeah. It'd be hard to make feel right and work right. The next best thing would be adding collisions back in, and we all know how well that worked. Although, I did love running a light 'mech with no armor and just legging a Catapult with nothing but my exploding corpse.

I am amazed that no video's that I have seen use my old school mechwarrior tactic of taking out at least one leg to make your target less mobile. Just saying, an AC-2 on an unsuspecting light mech's leg at long range, nothing he can do but wait for the second shot.

Yeah, I don't enjoy the videos where he plays with others as much as the ones where he is commenting instead. There are tons of channels with people just playing games, but only one with Sidestrafe level commentary. Something that has unfortunately been missing from World of Warplanes and Mechwarrior.
