There was only 2 of these sold in North America, this is one of them, the other one is in a car museum. It was definitely a clone. I've seen many very nice hemi cuda clones through the years, I actually own one myself. They are nearly identical to this car, just not real hemi cars from the factory. No big deal, they're still awesome and still very valuable. I couldn't imagine driving a $3.5 million car, but my $95k clone? Yup, she's getting driven all summer long.

No more than $150,000 if your car is in excellent condition. Too many factors met this Hemi-Cuda. Perhaps on 2019 you could get more money for your Firebird, but it is very hard to predict. At this moment $100,000 is a very good money for your car. Again, if your car is very well conserved.

You're buying a memory here. This is a car that belongs in a museum as an icon of a decadent era, where working men (most of the guys who bought these were just working dudes) went to the drag strip on the weekend, or tore up the main street of their home town in stoplight races. These days the working man can't afford the new muscle cars, and they can't afford to lose their car, license and insurance for drag racing. Truly a time gone forever, and that car is a little piece of the great memories of a carefree time. BTW, as the 60s and 70s generation grows older and since the new muscle cars eclipse their ancestors, you can expect the value of these to actually drop over the next few decades. Newer generations don't have the same fondness for them that the older generation does.

people saying its a waste if money.. it isn't. only because its more modern than say artifacts from 2000 years ago.. doesn't make it less valuable.. its a part of history and the last on of its kind in an almost complete original state.. if you can't respect people who pay this kind of money to preserve things from their passion.. then you are simply stupid and have no passion of your own.

You could have the only one in the world. If nobody wants it ; it isn't worth crap. What drives the market are people trying to buy back their childhood; what they missed or couldn't afford at the time. 1973 is when everything went to crap with a concocted gas shortage on top of it.

I'm a mechanic and I have a wealthy client that owns a Mecum rebuilt muscle car purchased at a well know auction site. He was having some problems with the car soon after purchase, within approximately 1000 miles, and it fell to me to repair the vehicle. It was supposedly totally restored and gone through by Mecum. During my work I found numerous short cuts and half-assed rinky-dink bs repairs made throughout the vehicle. Both the owner and I were surprised. I advise you to have a competent inspection by a third party before buying one of these cars.
@SAE-Restorations4 жыл бұрын
I make my living fixing and finishing restorations. There is a lot of nice looking junk out there, mostly coming from auctions. There is a museum near me that sells "restored" cars. I dont want to say the name but they are located in Volo Illinois. Ive made a lot of money fixing perfectly restoredcars that came from there

There was something in the face of the man who sold the car that spoke of regret. For most of these guys it's owning that something special that somehow reclaims a part of their youth, makes them relevant again. They already have money so it becomes more about regaining something they feel is slipping away from them as they grow old. They're like big kids with the coolest bike in the neighborhood that all the other kids want. Part of him died inside when he sold it that the money could never possibly replace.

My wife's uncle, in his 80s now, was an electrical engineer for Chrysler. As an employee he could buy a new car direct from Chrysler for cost. He still has the last car he bought as an employee. He was featured on a tv show along with two young guys about 10 years ago. The show got the two guys to get down and smoke the tires, do some donuts, have a good time. When they got back to uncle they asked him to do the same. His response? "You don't have enough money". His car? A 1970, dodge charger, dukes of hazard orange. Black bucket seats, 4 speed, 440, all factory original, matching numbers, no scratches, factory wheels. Less than 40k documented miles. Then another one of her uncles just sold his car to a collector in dallas. The collector sent a crew of 4 to retrieve the car. A 1960 all original 'vette convertible.

The unintended consequence of this is the price of other rebuild-able cars will be off the charts for enthusiasts who would be able to restore them. If you thought that collector muscle car prices were slowing down, think again. This ultra rare 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda sold at Mecum Auctions Seattle over the weekend for a staggering $3,500,000! Back in 2002, a 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible generated national headlines when it became the first muscle car to sell for over one million dollars. Yet even before reaching that historical milestone, Plymouth’s Hemi-powered Cuda was long considered by enthusiasts and authorities alike to be the ultimate creation of the muscle car era. Since then, we’ve seen muscle car prices continue to rise, with Hemi Cudas leading the pack. Due to federal regulations and rising insurance costs, Plymouth only sold 16,159 Cudas in 1971, of which only 108 coupes and 11 convertibles received the legendary 426 Hemi engine. This car was just one of two 4-speed manuals delivered in the US, and it’s been hailed by enthusiasts, collectors, journalists, researchers and appraisers as the Holy Grail of muscle cars. www.guysgab.com/this-1971-plymouth-hemi-cuda-convertible-just-sold-for-3-5-million/

The hemi cuda did not lead the pack in fact the shelby's mustang and roadster have always set the standard for muscle car prices being the first to jump up in price. Even the original zl1 Camaro is valued at more than the hemi cuda. The only reason this car sold as high as it did is because it's a 1 of 1 car.
