We’re back with part 2. Former car mechanic, Dr. Carl Allamby definitely didn’t let anything stop him from achieving the dream he had suppressed since childhood. On part 2, he lets us know that although he had major challenges being the oldest in his med school class, the ONLY black male, and one of few who had changed careers, he still found the positive in it all and used family as motivation for success. This lets you know that it is not too late to pursue your dreams.

I have to agree. Deeply appreciate this interview with Dr. Allamby! At 41, I start M1 in September. Glory Be To God 🙏🏾 Excited to get to know others in the second phase of their careers and moving to medicine.

I am not a doctor but I did graduate with my BSN at age 51 and now have been an RN for 6 months. I do plan on returning to school to become an NP. I am looking at psychiatric NP. I do have interest in APRN and the role of a hospitalist as well because I love inpatient environments.

Dude, I’m in my 40s already and almost I. My final year of my premed. I came from corporate finance for years and already at mid-level position but realized medicine is my calling when covid hits that’s really what pushed me towards medicine. Best decisions ever so far and I’m having a blast.
