Absolutely! It would take a lot longer to enlarge the drawing by hand, even if you used a grid.

@@ChrisBreier murals are also good to use sharpies with because treated/stucco walls will tear up those expensive paint pens ;)

@leam1978 Do you ever have trouble with the sharpie bleeding through when you paint over your lines?
@leam19788 ай бұрын
@@ChrisBreier not really. on a canvas, i can see how that might be an issue, but on stucco, the texture (and scale) helps hide it. i'm using novacolor mural acrylics, which are pretty intense. i suppose if bleeding was an issue, i could put an isolation layer over the drawing. for canvasses, this might be something like workable fixative, which i've seen oil painters use over charcoal.

2:50 To find the centre of a canvas, or any rectangle, then draw 2 diagonal lines corner to corner. Where those lines intersect (cross) will the the exact centre, both in terms of height and width.

Yep, good tip! I should have added that to the geometry section.

I think this projector will have to be included part 2 of my game changing art supplies video.

Your work is amazing. These courses are not taught in any art college.

I'm looking for a projector to use so that students can see me making a drawing. For instance, I'd be doing smallish pencil drawings that I want to project onto the wall so that anyone in the room can see the drawing in progress. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yes, most cameras have a micro hdmi port that you could use to connect it to a TV or projector. You could set the camera up in front of your drawing. Then use a micro hdmi to hdmi cable to connect it to the TV. The TV would probably be better than the projector because it's brighter and you would be able to see it with the lights on. Also, you'll want to mute the TV or turn off the audio in the camera so that you don't get that screeching feedback noise you get when a mic is too close to a speaker. You want a camera that has a "clean hdmi" feed which basically means that the stuff that you normally see on the back of the camera isn't sent over the hdmi connection to the TV (all the stuff you see about the settings, and exposure are normally overlaid on the screen on the back of the camera...that would be distracting to the students). Another possibility is that you might be able to get this to work with the camera on your phone instead of using a camera. You would have to look into what type of connection your phone has and what app you might need to get it to work.

its just prove that grid,tracing and other method is not "cheating"

Hockney's book "Secret Knowledge" is pretty interesting, he believes many of the masters used lenses and other optical devices to create their paintings.
