As a French / European, I have seen a lot of French people visiting Colombia in recent years and many around me are thinking of going to live there after their first experiences for a few months. We must also take into account the fact of crossing the ocean and being very far from loved ones and families and that remains an important factor for many and the biggest obstacle that I hear despite the fact that the culture of South America is very popular in France.

good interview. but there are very few europeans moving to Colombia or any other LATAM countries. for Europeans it is Thailand, Bali and Dubai for relocating. Colombia is nice but it is still quite complicated in terms of paperwork and the spanish way of doing things.the ballpark of 2-3K US per mo is correct for decent living. I have been spending partially my time in Medellin over last 5 years. It used to be cheap, now it is rather expencive compared to most of South East Asia. so it is really your choise.

500 a month is absolutely doable in rural Colombia. Geno Perez has a whole KZbin channel for it. In Medellin if you are smart you can live in Medellin for 1500. But more is always nicer. The mid size cities will cost roughly 500 a month less than Medellin primarily due to rent but also because far fewer tourists and 1st world immigrants encouraging businesses to offer more expensive services or just charging gringos more than they do Latinos.

@@JWinch I'm going to Panama in August. From the research I've done, it's relative. I believe Panama's pensionado visa is pretty good. Like anywhere else, prices are relative. The farther you are from the tourist areas, you do okay.

There are a 1000 different things going to any new culture. Which is why less than 4% of the world's population are immigrants. If those 10 things she does about safety are too many changes for someone they were never a candidate to be an immigrant to any country because their need to leave where they are is less than the price they will pay in needing to make countless changes to be in another culture.
