The Mouse Queen was actually a character from the first book. Unlike in the film, where Glinda saves them from the poppies with snow, the book gives a different escape. While Scarecrow and Tin Man are trying to pull Dorothy and Lion from the poppies, the Tin Man sees a mouse being chased by a cat. To save the mouse, Tin Man attacks the cat with his axe. Afterwards, they get approached by a large crowd of mice led by their queen. When she asks what they can do to repay them, they ask for their help in getting Dorothy and Lion out of the field.

Was making the Jitterbug look like the Mask WB's way of foreshadowing an eventual Tom & Jerry in The Mask? In fact, what's with all these Tom and Jerry crossovers recently? First there was Sherlock Holmes, then the Wizard of Oz, Robin Hood, Jack & the Beanstalk, Jonny Quest and Willy Wonka. Are they building toward an Avengers Infinity War style crossover involving the rest of Hanna Barbera's classic toons with Dick Dastardly as Thanos?

I'll say this, having Oz exist actually makes up for the one failing of the original. By making the adventure real it restored Dorothy to an active participant in her own narrative and perpetrator of real change as opposed to a girl who had a dream. She was an action heroine with autonomy, a powerful message. I'm also not sure if I'm remembering right but I think there actually was a fieldmouse queen in the Oz series.

Surprisingly this review actually made me want to see the movie more, I only heard of it existing every now and then, most of the scenes you described as bad and or pointless or nonesenseical managed to make the scenes look better than you explained, I actually loved most of the scenes of the movie you showed. It seems really REALLY FUN, I wanna buy the movie now, or at the very least rent it for afew days. Thank you for peaking my interest.

As much as Tom and Jerry is even more pointless in this sequel, I'm more bothered by how inconsistent the artwork around them is. I’m legitimately surprised of how passive you were with this film’s artwork, because on face value it’s fine. But when you break it down, the artwork is actually subtly terrible. It's not much as goofy faces hidden in plain sight as with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but design choices that are just downright baffling. I think all of these issues all are present in this one scene (4:58). Dorothy and the stuff she's carrying has new soft lines, an extension of the thematic palette. But Tom has such dark lines that he don't even mesh with the world, yet he's in the background. I get that the argument that this was a choice to make him, Jerry, and the cartoonish creatures differentiate from the characters. But A) they already do stand out due to their designs, thicker outlines just makes them stick out like a sore thumb and becomes a major distraction; and B) this happens throughout the entire film, making me think that they were copy and pasted from another cartoon(s). Tom and Jerry are so pointless in this film, that they break the film's own style.

Wow. Just wow. Somehow this sequel manages to be even more obnoxious than the original. And I don't even blame Tom and Jerry for it this time. The entire movie is written so sloppily.

Yeah personally the movie was just... mediocre to say the least. But it's better than Scooby Doo and Batman the Brave and the Bold.

I didn't know that bit about the nomes, but then I thought the eggs were actually POISONOUS to the nomes. I mean, the whole matriarchy/patriarchy thing makes sense, but I thought the eggs were a little more dangerous then just being a symbol they feared: one egg could pretty much KILL them. but then, that bit was brought on in the movie, and I never really read their book counterparts. I think in one animated version of it, the scarecrow holds back the nomes by painting a large boulder white so that it LOOKS like an egg, and that is more then enough to frighten them, but since I already had the mentality that the eggs were actually deadly to them, I thought that was what made them too afraid to even go NEAR it. Like if they touched the egg, they would die horribly- so of course none of them are gonna expose the scarecrows trick by calling his bluff and touching it- cause what if it IS?

Another problem with this movie, there’s a lot of scenes with upper body shots with the character talking where the character’s eyes look terrifying. I mean look at the scene scarecrow is talking to The Wizard at the carnival and tell me you don’t get chills.

At risk of being unpopular, I actually like this film. I like it a lot more than I should, but I like it. I was never really into Tom and Jerry, and not all of the humour in this is funny in this, but I am a huge fan of The wizard of Oz and see it as an enjoyable Oz movie. I hated the first Tom and Jerry Oz movie though.
