Something is seriously wrong with the laws of Singapore. I watched another episode crime watch of gang robbery and the penalty was jail term of more than 10 years and 12 strokes of the cane but in this case where someone has been killed, the driver only face a penalty of 6 months jail term. Traffic laws obviously need to be harsher!

Me too. Although I am not married, I still can feel the father and mother 's pains of losing their beloved daughter! A young girl with a bright future ahead of her but unfortunately, she becomes a victim of drunk- driving and loses her life all thanks to the drunk driver who insists on driving home in a drunk manner! Such irresponsible drivers must be slapped with heavier penalties like longer jail terms and forever suspension of all kinds of driving licences for involvement in fatal traffic accidents!

Absolutely right! A life is lost in this fatal accident and nothing can bring back the dead girl to her sad parents. No even a word of apology can do this. Imagine the mother experiencing 10 months of pregnancy and painfully bringing her daughter to this world. When the daughter is born, the parents are so happy and excited. Now the daughter is still so young and had to leave this world before she can even show fillal piety to her parents.

6 month in jail for taking away an innocent live due to negligent act is too short. There is a chance they will do it again. Drink drivers should be revoked and should not be allowed to take their license again. Good luck to the driver who have to live with the guilt for the rest of his life. This was one of the hit-and-run accident that shows something is wrong with the jail term for drink-driving. so many other cases and the perpetrator only got a few months of punishment. way too lenient for causing the death of a person, sure they may feel remorseful and have guilt for their entire life but it's still a unfortunate life lost.

I think chasing the van to get the plate number is more important, justice was served asap due to the person that reported the plate. If never take plate number I think police also take quite some time to trace down the driver.
