bejo sutedjo abt layering for example #1layer is your lineart then to put a base color u need to add#2 layer. If #2 is above the #1then drag it down. And start the base color while shading(#3layer) should be above #2

Layers are to separate drawing from eachother. think of it as a barrier.

clipping layer makes marks only on the base layer and won't go outside of the lines

It kind of like clipping the silhouette of image or any object to another layers so you can add stuff inside the silhouette.

The use of it is to change the color of your choice in whatever is underneath it, for example if you have a piece of lineart ready, you use another layer ontop of it and clip that layer. If you color that layer, your lineart will change color but it won't go outside your lineart

on each layer, there's a protect alpha button on top, good luck with digital art it takes a lot of patience.

with protect alpha (i might be late but i have the urge to reply to this) it's basically clipping, except when you erase stuff it erases the stuff under it too. Clipping, if you erase some of the clipping layer then the layer below is left untouched

essentially, protect alpha is to only color on top of already colored area meaning if a place isnt colored nothing will be drawn. also worth mentioning, erasing on protect alpha will erase as normal. Clipping is when you add a layer then you color and it can only color on top of what was already colored on the layer beneath it. Also erasing will be as erasing on another layer.

... That.. because I forgot to line the character first... Since I add the outline later, I can decide the color. Erm...So basically you can line your character with any color you want, then create another layer for base skin color with any color you want ; v ;

You can find them in menu Filter -> Hue. Or simply use ctrl/cmd + U

Personally I work at 600dpi bc 300-350 is still too small for me

I think it may have something to do with anti-aliasing. It’s in the top left corner on the panel, try turning it off or on. Also you can turn off the grid, so it doesn’t seem as pixelated. Make the drawing bigger, so you don’t have to zoom in quite as much, and definitely turn on correction!
