Fox News speaks for the Rich, to the Racist, about how those who aren't white, christian, and republican are the reason why the non-affluent racist people aren't rich. Point is, most Americans don't take them even the least bit seriously, we just have to survive those who do.

I had a really bad accident 1 year after I was too old to be covered by Medicaid (19). We were, and still are below the poverty line and couldn't afford insurance, and was denied for everything. Was able to get the surgery I needed, but now have over $50,000 in medical debt before I was even old enough to drink. This is not a country in which I want to live in.

How on Earth does a colonoscopy cost $8000? I had a simultaneous endoscopy-colonoscopy, requiring the use of general anaesthesia. It was billed at $750 and I didn't pay a cent of that. 100% covered by the Australian government. Even negating the American "pay to play" healthcare system, how do they achieve that dollar amount?
@jessicaandsahara

The "free market" is not as free as some believe it is.... There are areas where all hospitals are owned by the same corporation - and due to it all being privatized, including the medical insurances - and being subsidized by government funds, prizes sky rockets! In countries with universal healthcare there are much more control with how much it can cost!

@Sahri81
@Sahri81 7 жыл бұрын
So true. A lot of Americans think that giving people an equal opportunity at life is a horrific idea. They are a perfect school example of how it should NOT be done. Take the lead problem for example. The governments in the European countries knew in the 1920s that lead was dangerous and started banning it but guess what America did? Instead of joining them they basically put lead on EVERYTHING! America is like a stubborn brat that thinks he/she knows everything and does the exact opposite of what a sensible human being would do. And I can guarantee you that things will only go downhill should Trump be elected as the next president of the US but I think they've already hit rock bottom.

+Reese Well. None of it is free. There are no free things in this world. We pay for our healthcare and education through taxes of all people. Therefore we have somewhat higher taxes. But we don't need student loan (that would smother us for a decade). And besides that: we have much less military spending. I saw the government budged in USA and in Czech Republic (I'm Czech). Military takes like four times larger portion of your budget, than mine. That might be the reason for you having the strongest military in the world, but I have generous retirement and my wife has paid maternity leave.

OK, lets take Canada for example, they have universal health care system, also they have commercial hospitals with best equipment and personal ( private sector always pays better) , but guess what, most of the population can't get medical attention there because they have no means to pay for it, simple as that. They are getting what government will give them. Only rich can get the best. Now tell me, is it right?

I thoroughly enjoyed being able to see a doctor when I was covered by Medicaid. Discovered that I need at least three surgeries right before I lost medical coverage...now I cannot get any help, nor can I work a full-time job to help myself out. I filed for disability only to discover that I supposedly don't have enough issues listed to qualify (Which is actually 14 different diagnosis). I suffer a great amount daily and really have no way out of this situation except to appeal and go through a disability lawyer-which will take several years. Either way, I enjoyed the the ability to see a doctor while it lasted. Thanks, Obama.
@avamasquerade

They automatically deny everyone the first and often the second time they apply. Maybe hoping you die in the interim. Please apply again and drown them in paperwork. Also, once approved, you'll get all disability and ssi benefits from the date of your first application. And if you qualify for Medicare, you then qualify for Medicaid. So go to the dhs office in your state and apply immediately after you're approved, all your medical expenses will be covered. It's a crap process to go through with horrifying justification, but this is why you need to be relentless and stick it to them as hard as you can. You have power, don't let them convince you otherwise.

@@radicalgoose1923 Ok well you can continue live in your fantasy world pretending your country is better when it's not, statistics prove that. Do you realize how ridiculous you sound? What you described with our healthcare system doesn't happen to the overwhelming majority of people. Why do you think it makes the news when it does happen? Also just because something is free doesn't mean it better, our healthcare and universities still outrank yours. The problem with student debt in this country is kids go to way more expensive schools then what they can afford and many don't use their degree after they graduate. If you go to a school you can afford and actually use your degree it's not a problem. Also you brag about your minimum wage but it's literally $4.18 an hour lol. I know your cost of living is lower but it's not half of what it is in the US lol. So your minimum wage sucks as well. Btw here in the US hardly anyone works for minimum wage anymore, people just won't work for that low of a wage. Also where did you get the idea that we don't have unemployment benefits? We do and I had to use it last year because I lost my job for 5 weeks due to the pandemic. Even adjusted for cost of living we make way more money than you and our standard of living is still higher. Like most Europeans, you're a lot more insular than you think and you get your opinion on the US based off of news headlines that are biased and overwhelmingly negative.

@@jacobedwards4747 hey. How’s it going? Did you know that the United States ranks #37th in the world in best healthcare in the world? Cuba ranks #39. The UK ranks 18th. All this according to world population review to cite my source. Over 30 countries in this list have universal healthcare AND are better than the US. We need to understand in the US that listening to others who live on the same planet as we do, and arguably have had a tougher time through war (WW1 and WW2 anyone?) to get to a healthier place than us, might be on something. I love this country; we’ve done some great things, and so have other countries. You’d see less homeless on the streets if healthcare was free, no doubt. . And before you say “our population is way bigger! It would never work.” You know what we know isn’t working, what we’re doing now. Before you also say all of this was just liberal feelings bs, it’s not. Hard data proves that it works better. Please look at it with an open mind.

As a Canadian when I watch something like this it saddens me that our southern neighbors have to struggle with things that require little to no reconsidering thought. We pay higher taxes and our cost of living is definitely much higher than of most states, yet we enjoy the comfort of knowing that if tomorrow my health deteriorates my government will help me out. Health insurance should be considered as a human right and should simply not be debatable. Replace right to bear arms with right to bear health and watch US transcend.

+Maxime Meis I see what you mean by comparing rights to need and you're absolutely right. However, placing a structure in which healthcare can be delivered by the government is not the same as stealing or forcing someone else to pay for you. There are plenty of European countries that provide health care through their government and the cost is balanced from the taxation. No matter how much the cost for something like healthcare is, it wouldn't be nearly as much as the amount of money the US government spends on military and foreign aid and other unnecessary non progressive spending that it does on an annual basis. US has trillions of dollars of deficit, stock pile of armaments, wars that never end, yet the government paying for a poor citizen's health seems like an ordeal. Charity begins at home. If you can't set a new standard of becoming at home what good can your government be? The new administration that has been elected in Canada promised a deficit for the next 4 years so that they can increase spending to fix things that are wrong within their country. That is worth going into a deficit for. US just needs to unite to get their priorities right and should begin with fixing what's wrong at home.

In case if anyone is curious, in Chinese, the pangolin is literally called "drill mountain armor", as in, "the armored beast that can drill through mountains". Fun fact - it is wildly believed that consuming the flesh of this animal is part of the viral evolution chain that created the novel cornavirus.

Globscho91 And there's nothing wrong with giving *everyone* healthcare. What's wrong is saying, "you don't get healthcare because you can support your family, but you are required to pay for poor people's healthcare." Either have it for everyone or have it for no one. This in-between nonsense is unfair to people who are financially responsible.
@Kaidona
@Kaidona 8 жыл бұрын
+dllexport- "Financially responsible" as in people who don't need supervision to manage their money appropriately? I hope not. That otherwise makes an awful lot of assumptions about the poor and destitute. The US' healthcare model on a whole is entirely messed up, the fact the states can decide just not to offer some things that others do makes it worse. My parents have insurance through my dad's workplace but it doesn't include optical or dental and they can't get supplemental coverage for either because he makes "too much" money, so says the state. I'd like to know what the hell they're supposed to do about the fact they're both too blind to function without corrective lenses and one of them has dentures that are not only poorly fitted but so old they need replacing. Completely screwed up.
@morbo3000

Kaidona It means being able to budget properly, not wasting money on frivolous things when you don't have money to waste, getting the most value out of your money, not having more kids than you can support, and getting the education required to move up beyond minimum wage. And yes, many, many people are incapable of that. Just look at all the people who complain that they have no savings and then buy a $4 coffee every day.

Yes, Medicaid, free/cheap healthcare etc costs money, BUT, first of all it´s human lives we´re talking about AND in the long run a country MAKES money due to everyone staying healthy and fresh. So it really should be a no-brainer. But then again, the opposers probably don´t have brains to start with...
@singingismylifeSYV
@singingismylifeSYV 8 жыл бұрын
+Nic Soderman It's never about people "not having brains" it is about people who understand the economy and how this program could make our already $1 Million a minute spending in this country grow to a rate we can never repay. Go ahead, look up the US debt clock. Tell me that makes you not want to cut programs and find a way to reduce debt. I personally want to make sure another country doesn't own us, not whether I can visit the doctor without expenses. The answer: nothing about this topic is simple, but I respect your opinion.

+singingismylifeSYV There is debt and there is debt. If your debt every year exceeds your income, that's bad. A national debt doesn't mean disaster. There's not a single country that doesn't have debt, except maybe Norway, rich a-holes. :-D But has anyone bothered checking how much a healthy population costs? More Or less than Medicaid? Is it worth sacrificing people on behalf of a little money saved?

@falconJB
@falconJB 8 жыл бұрын
Darkion The US gives everyone a free ride too as long as you are below a certain income level and not a dependent of someone above that income level. So even if your parents wont pay for you to go and you don't want loans(which are available to everyone) you can just get a shit job for a couple years and then go for free. Also you have to fail a lot to lose government grants in the US, basically you have to get kicked out before you will lose funding at most universities. The US also has a problem with overcrowded universities, a lot of people attend not to get a degree but to party for a few years until they get kicked out, and even our smaller universities are in very high demand for foreign students.

John. I just want to let know that I have been on Medicaid in the state of Illinois for nearly 4 years because of frequent back issues. My choices of service have ranged from a clinic doctor who didn’t prescribe me the proper dosage of blood pressure meds after I lost 100lbs and ended up nearly having a heart attack. To being able to have 3 surgeries on my spine from the orthopedics of the Chicago Bears. It is broken. That is the truth. 3 surgeries that worked once. I have spent 4 years recovering and doing the same dance because those who quit their jobs for “non job related injuries” have very few rights. I was never dropped and I never had to renew. It’s a mixed bag. We operate on state law and that is the gospel here apparently. Anyone who proposes federal law is labeled as a dissident of the “state”. It’s time we thought about this nation as a whole… as a people… and just do the right thing.

The fear lasts long after the Cold War.

@@MegaMementoMori The idea of health insurance is that you pay small rates all the time to get free medical care when you need it instead of saving the insurance cost and dying slowly if you get injured or sick. So obviously you don't use it most of the time. Most young people don't need to go to hospital all the time. When you do, though, all expenses are covered.
@MegaMementoMori
@MegaMementoMori 5 жыл бұрын
@@onkelpappkov2666 The problem is that, at least in my country (Poland), even when you get sick you often go privately, because the quality of public insurance is often worse then the private one and you are regularly given many month long waiting times. So basically, you pay for nothing.

Tell me: US government uses almost twice as much tax dollars (per citizen) for health care than Norway (second biggest spender), but you don't have universal health care? Also quality of care is barely on top10. Finnish government uses about 45% of what yours does: One hospital day costs around $40 and that covers everything from surgery to meals they serve. If patient is under 18 that payment applies for first 7 hospital days of that year..after that it's free.
