Hi, I'm Maggie and I have Crohn's disease. I am thrilled to be here sharing my personal experiences with Inflammatory Bowel Disease as well as living with an ostomy. I'm proud to share a little bit from a clinical experience as well, having worked as a GI pediatric nurse and ostomy telehealth nurse. I am so glad you are here. ♥ #ostomy #ibd #chronicillness

Yes, it’s much more complicated to travel if you have a physical disability and/or a chronic illness. It requires planning, more planning, careful packing, double then triple checking everything - durable medical equipment, prescriptions, medical supplies, and coming up with a plan B, plan C, and maybe even a plan D. It can be daunting and exhausting. However, those are not reasons to stay home. It’s totally worth it, even if you are doing all the above AND taking small children on long flights. Seeing their eyes light up at the top of the Eiffel Tower and visiting the Oracle at Delphi made it all so worth it. You just need to be very organized and keep an eye on everything you need. Communicating with staff is crucial to a trip’s success, but I’m still working on that one.

Came back to Florida from Waco Texas. It is a very dry very hot heat there. Floridas humid feels like opening a door and walking into a hot wool blanket. Texas feels like a sheet you take out of the dryer. Remember that. The cracks in everyone’s yard was sad. My other advice, walk slowly. I did my southern granny walk and drank water. Told them they don’t know how to walk in hot weather. You amble. You stroll. No galloping.Texans gallop. Also, for other medical reason I never drink water or anything with lots of ice. You get weird waiter looks and “you sure” but it works. #TexasForever

Thanks for your video me and my insulin pens and my continuous glucose monitor will be going to South Carolina first week in September with my cat also. Fun road trip going to visit my mom who lives near the beach. Cant wait, going to see some of my Virginia friends on my way down from PA. .I have had to buy meds that were forgotten or confiscated at the airport after leaving on the bathroom sink for 3 minutes. It was a kit with testing supplies and insulin. That was the biggest pain to replace due to med insurance not wanting to pay.The beach sounds lovely I am also a water bug.

Hope you have a great ghost tour in Savannah. The one we went on a few years ago was nice. Wave to the right side of I-95 as your going south and passing through Kingsland, Ga. I live right there. Enjoy your trip to Florida.

Hello Maggie, I wish you recovery first and strength Secondly, I have a question for you. I hope for an answer. I am a Crohn's patient, and I am going to perform a rectal resection. I hope, through your experience, how long will it be for recovery after the operation, and what advice can you give me? Thank you.
