I had severe carbon monoxide poisoning in the 70's. It was from a water heater in a bathroom. I stood up and passed out on the floor instead of in the bath. An hour or so later I woke up and was told in the hospital it take 90 days to completely renew the blood and if during this time I was exposed to more carbon monoxide it could have a cumulative effect and just a small exposure could be fatal. Within a year a person died in that same bathroom from carbon monoxide poisoning. Indeed, trailers are deadly. I had a friend who lost his daughter and grandchildren from a poorly vented heater.

@@Slade69 NO PAIN. JUST A GENERAL TIRED FEELING FOLLOWED BY DIZZINESS. LUCKILY I TURNED OFF THE HEATER BEFORE GETTING IN THE BATH. OTHERWISE I WOULD NOT BE TALKING WITH YOU TODAY. SOMEONE IN THE GAS COMPANY DIED THAT WAY. HE USED TO GO TO THE TOILET AND READ THE NEWSPAPER NEXT TO THAT SAME KIND OF WATER HEATER. AN ACCUMULATION OVER 90 DAYS KILLED HIM. I wonder how long I can go without a hood vent at my workplace, cooking. They weren't cleaned an out of date maintenance sticker on it says June 1, 24. Overheated in all these heat waves and cooked the motor and seized the bearings. :/ Deep fry burning propane not as clean as gas. Grill. And my flat top. Anytime we have to cook a burger or steak we are smoked out and I'm outside puking when I clean the flat top at the end of the night.

@PhoenixinShadows It sounds like you're in a hazardous situation with carbon monoxide exposure and poor ventilation at your workplace. Cooking without a proper hood vent, especially with deep fryers, grills, and flat tops, can lead to dangerous levels of carbon monoxide and other fumes. It's crucial to address this immediately-report the issue to your supervisor or health and safety department to ensure proper maintenance and a safe working environment.

@MedicalCentricАй бұрын
@Boss-zo4lw Using a charcoal burner in the bedroom is not recommended due to the potential health risks, including carbon monoxide poisoning, which can be life-threatening. How much Co2 do modern vehicles give off? I have a friend whose dad tends to keep the car in the garage. He always turns it on and then backs out immediately so he’s smart about it but I still worry.
@MedicalCentric8 күн бұрын
@Quadraginta1337 Modern vehicles, depending on their type and fuel efficiency, can emit anywhere between 120 to over 400 grams of CO2 per kilometer. However, when a car is running in an enclosed space like a garage, even for a short period, it can produce dangerous levels of carbon monoxide (CO), which is much more immediately harmful than CO2. Your friend’s dad seems careful, but it's good to make sure the car is always backed out quickly and that the garage is well-ventilated to avoid any risk of CO poisoning.

Could methylene blue help with this issue
@MedicalCentric8 ай бұрын
Methylene blue is not a standard treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide poisoning primarily affects the body's ability to carry oxygen, as it binds to hemoglobin more effectively than oxygen. The primary treatment is to immediately remove the person from the exposure source and administer 100% oxygen, often through a tight-fitting mask. In severe cases, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, where the patient breathes pure oxygen in a pressurized room or chamber, is used. Methylene blue is used to treat methemoglobinemia, a different condition where the iron in the hemoglobin is altered and unable to effectively release oxygen to body tissues. While both conditions affect oxygen delivery in the body, the mechanisms and treatments are distinct. Therefore, methylene blue would not be appropriate or effective in treating carbon monoxide poisoning.
