Great video as usual! You are the Explainer-in-Chief of Medicare. I wonder when part 2 of this video will be posted? I have gone from total confusion over Medicare to Kung-Fu Master of Medicare (at least in my own imagination) thanks to these instructive, and may I say calming, videos. I did not know that Part B is supposed to be $185 in 2025, for example. So I am eagerly watching out for Part 2 of this two-part series of videos.

Looks like another good year for insurance companies. In adjusting for inflation, how can it be that the Medicare premiums, co-payments and deductibles, far outstrip the Social Security Cost of Living. Why aren't medical cost premiums included in the cost of living? What is the deal on user administered drugs in a hospital. I can see why they want to control the use, but why do they make you jump through hoops about a recharging you, refusing to contact your part D provider, and giving you a hard time about an "ITEMIZED" list of drugs and costs, to submit to the Part D provider. Cleveland Clinic gave me a 3-month run-a-round on this 2 years ago, and never even contacted me to pay the bill, till 6 months after the stay - like, you need to pay this, but we don't have to bill you, we billed your part B. Then wanted $800 in 3 days or go to collection. This system is really messed up! I even drove 60 miles to get an itemized list, and the billing clerk refused to give it to me.

Medicare supplement price increases are due to significanlty higher health costs since 2020. Those higher health costs come from more people needing healthcare due to more instances of cancer, cardiac events and so on. That is why Medigap plans have price increases. As far as "...Medicare premiums, co-payments and deductibles, far outstrip the Social Security Cost of Living. " If Medicare premium $ increase is greater than the Social Security $ increase, then your Part B premium $ increase is limited to the lower Social Security increase. It's called the Hold Harmless rule.

@@MedigapSeminars Thanks Matt, I have never heard about this 'harmless rule' I get bit with the Part B every year pretty hard, but my wife, who was a homemaker for 20 years, and then drove a school bus (government) only gets a small portion of my SS amount. I have never really noticed that she is getting cut a break on the Medicare B premiums, but will check. (I pay all our medical from my SS check) Is it possible to refer me to where this is written. Or how it is formulated? Mike
@marteanderson7963Ай бұрын
@@miketrissel5494 How it works The hold harmless provision prevents Medicare from increasing Part B premiums by more than the cost of living adjustment (COLA) for Social Security benefits in a given year. Who it applies to The hold harmless provision applies to most Social Security recipients who have been enrolled in Part B before 2017 and have their premiums deducted from their Social Security checks. Who it doesn't apply to The hold harmless provision doesn't apply to people who are new to Medicare in 2024 or are enrolled in a Medicare Savings Program (MSP). What happens if the COLA is small or zero If the COLA is small or zero, the remaining enrollees who aren't held harmless must pay the full cost of premium increases

I appreciate being fed this in smaller bits. If you could do it in several 10 minute videos I would be able to digest it even better. 🤣

At 5:55 you said Medicare Part A but the subtitles showed Medicare Part D, perhaps because Part D is meds... was slightly confusing...
@MedigapSeminars28 күн бұрын
What I said is correct. The caption is not. Drugs are covered under Part A when you are an inpatient. Thank you for pointing it out. I have fixed it.

Hundreds of thousands of retired postal workers are facing decisions they will no doubt make as a shot in the dark. No money to be made by you nor your company but hoing you will set aside gain and offer some videos for us. The postal reform act gave the post office and OPM to require us to have Part B plus our federal employee health benefits. Some of us, like me, do not have Part B but are being given an option to sign up after which if we want out of Part B we will also lose our federal health benefits, now seperated to a new system called PSHB (Postal Service Health Benefits). Give it a look. Hopefully some educational videos will be produced. I still can't figure out how the USPS benefits. It is possible that there is no benefit but they might be used to force retired USPS folks on to Medicare, against their will and with no benefit to them but a substantial cost. Thank you.
