It's just one of every video I watch on this channel from start to finish. Simply Amazing! Great Job!

This past August my wife and I both took advantage of Maryland's birthday rule to change from AARP/UHC Plans F, to CIGNA's Plan F, and saved about $180/month for both of us totally. We looked into changing to Plan G, but the additional savings amounted to about $10 per month after allowing for the difference in the yearly deductibles. It's worth $10/month to not have to deal with any bills at all.
@mojo32622 күн бұрын
Because of the Maryland birthday rule, I was able to leave UHC supplemental N plan at $430/month and go with Humana N plan for $100.90/month. No medical underwriting, no denials to date. Thank you Maryland government for passing the law in 2023.

You and your videos have been a lifesaver for me! I saw one of your videos like this a month or so ago and requested a phone call from one of your agents as you suggest doing in the description under your video and I had a wonderful call with an agent who has gotten me into a plan G that is just about half the cost of the one I’m getting out of. My premium has been going up and up and up ridiculously over the last few years and I would be paying $323 in 2025 and I just could not accept that. You’re wonderful agent has gotten me into a plan G that is only costing half that much per month! That is a huge savings over the course of a year. Thank you so much!
@Savannah-ed4rv2 күн бұрын
That's wonderful! My mom had a similar experience but with another company and she was on the legacy plan C that was costing her about 320 a month including a dental plan. It was going up every year dramatically so she ended up with a plan N under $200 the first year. Now it's about $220 but she's 89 years old. She got the plan when she was 87! But not all Brokers will talk to somebody that age. I don't know about Marvin's company but I called several of them who wouldn't speak to me about her plans, and I know it was because of her age.

I wonder if Plan G will go to the wayside like J and F before it because they feel that people still don't have enough "skin" in the game.
@Savannah-ed4rv2 күн бұрын
I think that's a possibility, plus the price stability overall isn't as good as plan N, so when it's my time to choose I'll probably go with that.

If you have preexisting conditions there's a good chance you won't meet underwriting standards for a new company. There's only four states that require supplemental plans to cover preexisting conditions if you sign up outside the initial enrollment period. So be very careful which supplemental policy you initially choose because you may not be able to switch later.

I'm worrying about them cancelling my insurance if they want to just because I'm changinng from F to G does it give them the option? I know as long as I keep F they can''t I'm 77 yr old. Thanks Bob
@MedicareSchool2 күн бұрын
Your policy can never be canceled for any reason other than unpaid premiums. Your Plan F carrier wouldn’t even be aware that you’re applying elsewhere, as they do not share that information. Once you are approved for the Plan G, simply call your Plan F carrier to cancel just before your G plan starts. If you have any other questions or concerns, we’re here to help! Interesting--I didn't know that about the IRMAA. Is there a "look-back" period for the high earner? What if an individual would be considered a high earner for only 3 years before they retire and apply for Medicare?
@masspatriot54092 күн бұрын
I believe they look back at last 2 years earnings. If you actually retire you can apply for an exemption
@MedicareSchool2 күн бұрын
The look back period is always 2 years. So for 2025 they review 2023, 2026 they review 2024, 2027 they review 2025 etc. They will evaluate every year to see if anything has changed.

What types of plans for Supplemental does Wisconsin have? I heard they don’t have G plans. Do they have N plans? Or what?
@ChrisSadowski-pp1np2 күн бұрын
I live in Wisconsin myself. We basically have a base plan and we can add riders to them to make them equivalent to the national plans. Our G equivalent would be the base plan plus four riders, the N would be the base plan plus three riders and we have our HDG equivalent.

@@ChrisSadowski-pp1np What about price? How does WI fit into the wide range of other states? (asking as both my husband and I are starting Medicare spring of next year. Will be making an appt with Medicare school soon) Thanks! (also any clue why we're "weird"? As far as Medicare that is...... :D )
@ChrisSadowski-pp1np2 күн бұрын
@nanner3200 I think Medicare nerds said that Wisconsin's G. Equivalent was about 160 a month versus the N equivalent of being $130 a month. My recommendation is to stay away from G because it's not a good value. By the time you turn 85, that premium only about $500 a month. Do the N or HDG equivalent. High utilizers of healthcare flock to Plan G and N is still a comprehensive plan (excess charges are practically non-existent and copays are not an issue unless you go to the doctor more than twice a month). HDG is also really good because you get all the benefits of original Medicare like no annual plan changes, no networks, no pre-approvals, coverage that travels with you and 100 versus 20 days compared to an advantage plan of skilled nursing care. Plus HDGs rate will always be reasonable and even with the limits going up every year, it will still be better than the average Advantage plan.
@ChrisSadowski-pp1np2 күн бұрын
@@nanner3200 according to Medicare Nerds Wisconsin's G equivalent cost $160 per month and N equivalent is $130 per month. My recommendation is to choose N or HDG. Plan G will cost you about $500 a month by the time you're 85.

If you've been on Medicare due to disability, you get a second chance at age 65 to get a Medigap plan without underwriting. I'm in that situation and I will turn 65 next year so a month or two before that I'm going to make my decision and make it effective the first of 2026. I'm on Medicare Advantage right now and it will be effective until a year from january.
@MedicareSchool2 күн бұрын
Once you turn 65, they are essentially giving you a clean slate. So you can now add on a supplement plan as if you are just starting Medicare for the first time.
