It's incredible how differently medical staff interacts with and treats psych patients than any other hospital patient. The gaslighting and coercion that these medical "professionals" believe they can get away with is DISGUSTING. I wouldn't have believed the subhuman treatment if I had not experienced it myself. I feel for anyone who has had to endure the indignity or is trapped in the system.

It's sad that I work in a hospital and I try so hard to combat things like this from happening. I've seen a lot of medical professionals act certain ways toward psych patients and it makes me sick.

I was admitted against my will by the Police who took my physical disability as a mental issue. It was the most horrible experience I've ever experienced. I was treated like a dog. They moved me around without care for the pain I was in, wouldn't allow me to have a wheelchair to get to the bathroom and I fell down while in there and they yanked me off the floor by my clothing. An ex-con had all of my personal possessions because that's who they had working there. He wouldn't let me sit in a chair that wasn't beat to hell and they put me in a room that had a lump of towels covering a corner where people had defecated. They tried to give me drugs that my doctor hadn't prescribed and they held my prescribed drugs way past the time I was supposed to take them. I talked to their two way mirror and told them that if they didn't release me and let me call my husband I would sue them and spread their truth all over social media. Within a few minutes of me telling them that I was allowed to call my husband who had no idea where I was, and he came and got me. This was the prestigious Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California where this took place!
