I had a step brother exactly like this. The last time I saw him he was going through those shivers and dry gagging at an airport after our parents spoiled him taking him on our vacation. He spat at me and I had a glass cup of coke (from a restaurant) and smashed the cup in his face and stood over him telling him to get up so I could beat the life out of him. He sat there crying and I walked away and spent my savings on changing my plane ticket. That trip we took he met a girl who also was an alcoholic but had parents with big money and offered to take care of them financially if they got their shit together and stopped drinking entirely. He’s been sober for 4 years now from alcohol and the father in law bought a vape shop that he was managing and was gifted this last June for their wedding as owner. He had alcohol problems going back to when he was 13 years old and his mom feeding into his addiction. The thought of alcohol makes him sick and he loves life for the first time that he can remember. With that said I hope Tyler can find that same kind of inner peace. It seems so far away but it’s obtainable even when your entire family disowns you and wants you dead.

And when they get to the top of the list, you have to fail the piss test. You need help, and if you're doing a good job on your own you get denied. @allisonjames292320 күн бұрын
@@tenchravenThat’s crazy 🥺 I hope she survived that. I need to look more into what the criteria are for rehab & the differences between the US & Aus. Well that was an eye opener. There’s everything from 12 weeks min residential stay in basically a luxury resort costing around $20,000 for 6 weeks, with most of them covered by private health insurance to some extent, to low income rehab options in the community or residential programs. With an estimated 500,000 people waiting to get into programs. There are programs that include withdrawal management as well as all the other facets of addiction therapy, and those where you do the withdrawal phase prior. Obviously a very complex & costly area.
@oniongummy896919 күн бұрын
@@tenchravenit’s about criteria for detox; if you have a clean tox panel, it is harder to get into inpatient treatment, mostly because beds are often misused as shelter by chronic manipulators of the system; but there are many programs, at least in my state, such as outpatient group/individual therapy, psych rx follow up to therapy, IOP, Sober Houses and MAT; and they do not require using again to engage any of them although you may have to test positive for the substances you are prescribed as part of a treatment plan.

After talking with my medic friends. Everyone agrees that under almost all circumstances,it is illegal to forcefully sedate or treat someone. This threat to sedate him, then actually do it. Is a crime.

I wonder what point in time the medics realized it was not just whiskey? A few seconds. I believe the cops believed he drank alcohol but know more was there.

Am I the only person seeing an EXTREMELY irritating cop DELIBERATELY antagonising poor stupid Tyler?
@shelley647718 күн бұрын
When he said he didn’t have a father or a friend, I sat up straight and thought, “I’ll be your friend.” Everyone needs someone to talk to. Reach out if you want to, Tyler. No judgement. Just compassion and real talk.

I agree but… I also think there’s a reason bro doesn’t have any friends. Addicts don’t make good friends.
@vortexaligned7 күн бұрын
@shelley6477 I was thinking the same, cuz bro needs a friend that understands... You have friends, Tyler! I pray he finds his way to the rooms of AA or NA if he can't get into rehab soon enough, because there he'll find a fellowship of addicts; brothers and sisters in recovery that will love him until he loves himself, to support him so long as he is willing... Addicts in recovery are more than just friends; we are family... No matter what ❤🙏
@shelley64777 күн бұрын
@@vortexaligned totally agree except for AA only works for about 8% of the population. Tough love can make things worse. A little one-on-one with someone who understands and cares might be better.
@vortexaligned7 күн бұрын
@shelley6477 It works for those who work their program willingly and diligently, but I agree with you that it may not be for everyone... I'm not here to preach though, that's not my intention, just saying it can be a place to find someone who understands and cares, when a person feels like they have no one who does...❤️ My personal experience in the rooms of AA/NA is not modeled in tough love, but unconditional love, so my heart goes out to anyone that may have had a negative experience. I walked through the doors on my own, willingly, but I can understand also that it may be a completely different experience for individuals that may have been court ordered to work a program, etc.

Sedating someone that is drunk af, and refusing consent…. Not a good idea.
@HAL-ol1lh19 күн бұрын
He seems a bit drunk , but does he lack mental capacity? In order for an agent of the State to override consent ( or someone's lack of consent) the person needs to have an impairment or disorder of the mind preventing him from making informed decisions. Its quite a fraught area of law. Just look at compelled feeding in anorexia. You can be temporaryily incapacitated when intoxicated. But you sober up in 8 hours. He was restrained on a Guerney . That's already a major deprivation of liberty potentially.. I didn't see anyone carrying out a mental capacity mini test required to evidence the person lacks the ability to make capacitous (yes that's a word) decisions. On the face of It this was an abuse of power in my view but there seems to be a long backstory, the staff clearly know him well

I’m a retired firefighter. Iv never seen an ambulance do this. If you even start to get violent in my ambulance. You are out. It’s simply not our job to deal with violent people. And it’s illegal to force treatment on people. They strap him down and force drugs on him. That’s illegal. What happens in this squad goes against every policy I have ever come in contact with.

Sounds like he was arrested on warrants, going to the hospital to get medically cleared before going to jail.

I can only pray that this video is shown to him when he is finally sober enough to see the absolute downward spiral to a point of no return if he doesn't get and stay sober! I know from personal experience, and I can guarantee your life will never get better than it is today as long as you are in your addiction!

These people are all terrible at their job. Give the dude a urinal, let him piss, dude probably would’ve cooperated after that. Instead the cops just escalate by putting their hands on him while calling him dumb.

There should be no wait lists for help. Look what happens while they wait. They end up with a record, losing family, friends, and jobs or dead. Vicious circle ambulance is at the bottom of the cliff instead of at the top, preventing a catastrophe.
