_"The Holy Roman Empire, an early ally of the Teutonic Order, they had given them a donation of land in prussia, and may inevitably find themselves supporting each other in a war with other neighbors closer to their heartlands…"_ _"Norway, also descendants of the vikings, and an infant kingdom recently following the papacy and church, now find themselves in a new era after their civil war. Now, with King Haakon the Old, and his devoted support against the pagans with a sizable fleet, his kingdom and people is yet to find an obstacle, or threat closer to home, that is lurking for an opportunity for expansion…"_ _"The Mongols, or the Golden Horde, now find their once vast empire shattered into different borders. Descendants of the great Genghis Khan once united, now are separated, and is stretched thin from eastern Europe to the foreign shores of Yuan China. Now the Golden Horde and its Khans must consolidate rule, in order to either keep and expand its power, or to crumble and surrender to the times…"_

_"The various tribes and princedoms of peoples against all kingdoms, from resisting the scandinavian annexation, to the crusade's influence, to the remnant golden-horde mongol’s imminent and desperate attempts of further conquest, these "rebels" have united, under the sign of a banner fielding clashing swords. and, with further signs of anger toward the main powers of the world, must find themselves either growing more in number and strength, or be taken advantage of in this turbulent age…"_

The Teutonic Knights were not medieval Nazis. Their rise and fall were similar to the Templars. Once the pagans converted and Poland was no longer threatened by them, the king wanted to take their land. Read Teutonic Knights: A Military History

@followernumber1
@followernumber1 Жыл бұрын
@@user-pr9qb6yi9w That wasn't genocide back then. That was standard Medieval military tactics. When the supposed Christian kingdoms went to war with each other, it was common to pillage and slaughter the peasantry to feed/pay the army and to rob the other side of a valuable source of taxes. Likewise, the Medieval Muslim kingdoms would enslave non-Muslims and force them to work under horrific conditions. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5yngYOjj9uGgbs And lets not forget about the good old vikings. Those Scandinavian raiders who pillaged, raped, and enslaved people from all over Europe while at the same time performing human sacrifices (there are Christian and Muslim sources from this period). An additional crime of the Nazis is that their evil was so horrific that it has caused people to be bias on most German history.

Games at the time were held back by hardware limitations, but given what they had the mechanics of Medieval 2 rival any of the modern Total Wars and arguably surpass them in many aspects.

Wasn’t Lithuanian the last pagan kingdom during this time
@cheheihei8386

@@WitcherGerd Oh I commented here :/ I'm Lithuanian and yes Lithuania was the last pagan kingdom in Europe, last baptized. Our rulers often agreed to be baptized and then later, denied their baptizms or changed their minds before doing so for political reasons. Mainly becouse we were mighty nation and had catholic and orthodox neighbors which were interested of converting us into orthodox or catholic faith (and also we had bad experiences with german orders which were catholic crusaders). Our rulers often used this in their advatage, (by marrieges and batizms) making alies and taking territory. For exaple Grand Duke Algirdas offten alowed his sons convert to orthodoxy and take lands from muslim power Golden Horde, which controled large portions of orthodox population in that region. Bigest enemies were Teutonic and Livonian or german Orders. They conquered baltic tribes in Prussia and Latvia. Then Mindaugas (he is in the game) was baptized to catholic faith and was crowned 1253 a king of Lithuania. That legitimized Lithuania and put a halt for german orders attacks After some time Minaugas denounced his catholic religion and proclaimed himself pagan again. He was murrdered by his noblemen (who were also pagans). That folowed a period of infighting. Until new dynasty Gediminaiciai emerged: Gediminas the Great made Lithuania mighty country, his son Algirdas secured it and expanded Lithuanias territory. Later Algirdas son Jogaila converted to catholicism, became king of Poland 1386. His nephew Vytautas also was baptized and became Grand Duge of Lithuania. Lirhuania was baptized to catholicism 1387. Later together Jogaila and Vytautas beated teutonic army in the battle of Grunwald 1410. Only that put an end of german crusader attacks.

@@WitcherGerd Well it created one of the mightiest countries in the Europe. After union of Lublin 1569 Polish- Lithuanian Commonwealth emerged. But influence of polish nobility increased dramaticaly. Their languege and culture totally dominated country. They had their own writing and much longer history of being westerners and christians. Even old lithuanian documents were writen in old belarusian, just after much latter we created our own writing. Basicaly only during Imperial Russian control desidents and intelectuals (re)formed national indetification as lithuanians, and need for independent Lithuania. And so 1918 February 16 emerget democratic republic of Lithuania. Formed by intelectuals which great majority were priests. That Lithuania was wery catholic until Soviet Union occupation and World War II German reich's occupation and latter again Soviet Occupation until recovery of independence 1990 March 11. Movment for independence had many christian elements becouse christians in Soviet Union were oppressed and had cultural significance for lithuanian coulture. Some saints emerged from that period. Until then there was only one ethnicaly lithuanian saint Kazimieras Jogailaitis (1458- 1484) patron of Lithuania until this day. But as for now, Lithuania is quite secular country, only with fragments of 1918 "christian republic" experiment. Some people say that christianization of Lithuania brought polish dominance and almoust total destruction of indentity. But with christianty, expecialy in medieval times, came Western civilization and its acomplishments. Also many teritories in old Lithuania were slavic orthodox christians. They were hopping for Lithuanias conversion and saw them hightly becouse Algridas beated mongols in the battle of ,,Blue Waters" 1362, conquered orthodox but mostly lithuanians were greeted as liberators. Also german order was a big threat and who knows, maybie there couldn't be a great victory like Grunwald battle without baptizm and help of Poland. Maybie today we would be germans, who knows? This is guess, speculation. Conversion to universal, major religion was inevitable. The question was to which (Catholicism/ orthodoxy or maybie islam) and how that would be done.

The way I understand it. The teutons are already in the game but with a addon their textures are more historically accurate, cause they have the German eagle and yellow markings on them. As far as I know this texture is form medieval 2 kingdoms. And is added to medieval 2 with a addon that Improves all factions. Is that correct?

To put it bluntly, no pun intended, I don't care about the wars, but I love the music. P.S. kids, the battlefields smell like aweful. Think of throwing out a lot of rotten meat that attracts many flies. Kinda like going camping and taking a 10 minute break at a rest in the middle of the woods. G.L.H.F. (good luck have fun).
