To be honest I've wondered alot since starting this game why the Dev's haven't included any 2 story houses or basements ? Because they are already in the game, being able to add some 2 story houses would be awesome

As someone who loves this game and has also spent countless hours coming up with ides and decorating, this is AMAZING! So many great ideas! I recently tested making a stage/amphitheatre. I tested it with simple small house, that would have stone foundation, and only build the foundation, stairs go toward the back. Made a backstage area for actors to get ready... Then just did benches in the typical crescent shape. Turned out pretty good.

Thank you truly for sharing. I consider myself to be somewhat creative, but I honestly cannot fathom doing what you did here. The coming together of your eyes and your brain is amazing. Human creativity never ceases to amaze. I do always wonder when I see stuff like this, is what is the creative planing process. Is there literal designs drawn out on paper or in a program, or at least notes and ideas? Do you pick a spot and ever so slowly creep out from there, or pick multiple places and have it trickle all together? I have to imagine there’s also some destroy and rebuild to get the spacing just right. But again, amazing job. And thank you for sharing.

To answer your questions, I had wanted to do an island walled city/town so I'd pinpointed the big main island as where I was going to do it. To start with I built a temporary town on the river bank by the cave. This was always going to get knocked down so all of the buildings were placed as conveniently as possible with no regard for aesthetic. This was just to unlock everything as fast as possible. Once everything was unlocked I then started to blueprint on the island itself and slowly transition everything over to the island and dismantled the temporary town. In terms of planning, it was a case of looking at the natural features of the island and anything I could build around. I knew I wanted to build a road through the middle of the island and replicate the smaller maple circle I'd built in Shadynasty. Then, I found the biggest maple that was most central and started to build around that. After that, I was just building where it made sense, trying to keep everything following the natural flow of the terrain to guide where I built so it doesn't end up in just 'blocks'. Once I'd got most of the buildings down, I then saw that I hadn't got close to the building limit, so looked to expand onto the second island and on the river bank. The river bank was always going to be farmland because it's perfect for it, flat and expansive. The advice I always give with games like this is to not be afraid of tearing something down if it doesn't feel quite right to you or if you suddenly have a better idea. Doesn't matter if I've spent hours building it, if I have a better idea or just doesn't feel quite right, it comes down. The whole point for me is to build something I like and replicate the vision I have in my head so I just can't accept if it doesn't look right, everything has to be perfect in my eyes! Hope that helps but more than happy to answer/discuss anything else you're curious about!

fantastic job, this is more like it. the thing i do that people seem to not though is hand placing hundreds of items all over my village to make it feel much more alive and lived in-vases with flowers, firewood, baskets with different items in them, makeshift furniture creations, dishes, clothes, etc etc. makes it look and feel like years have passed. sure it takes a lot of time but this game is not meant to be played in a hurry. you’re meant to use your imagination to create a unique world all your own. love this game!

for example some like a sprawling, quaint village and others are going for a grand city. really hope they add more building options in the future but i also love that we can do a lot already with what they give us, with some creativity. i was playing Valheim on steam before my computer broke and it was truly impressive what people could do with such a minimalistic game as far as builds

Thank you mate! It's maxed out on the customisation settings on PC which is 140. I think there's a way to increase it beyond that but it involves editing game files and to be honest I've never had a need to. Not sure if you can still do that though.

Honestly this was a while ago now I can't remember exactly how long it took but it would've been a couple months maybe? In terms of resources it's just focusing your villagers on extraction and tweaking it as and when you need specific resources.

Thank you! Not quite, you can customise the game options to speed up unlocking stuff and making things easier but not a completely sandbox creative mode. I've made saves for both maps where I've unlocked everything got loads of resources and then tore everything down and saved them as Oxbow/ValleyStart so if I'm just in a building mood I can load one of those up and just build without going through everything.

I'm playing the steam version on the oxbow map, I'm guessing you're probably on console or gamepass? If so you won't have access to this map yet but there's an update coming out imminently which is bringing them up to speed with the steam version.
