Come #mudlarking with me on the historic, mysterious, tidal River Thames in London. I'm a licensed River Thames London Mudlark, and a member of the Society of Thames Mudlarks and Antiquarians. Searching the River Thames at low tide, I'll show you evidence of the way people lived and enjoyed themselves in London.
Today we're checking out the mediaevil to 18th century blood sport of cock-throwing, a cloth called kersey, and have I found a medieval dagger tip? We're little metal finds heavy today, some mystery ones too, and a welcome return to a typical Tudor find that I haven't seen for a while.
Without further ado, strap on your virtual kneepads, grab your virtual archaeologists' trowel, and come mudlarking with me at low tide in London.
⚠️ 🚨 You must have a valid PLA permit to search the River Thames foreshore. Permits are obtainable from the Port of London Authority, although a waiting list may apply. 🚨 ⚠️

Lovely. All very special little finds. Except that little chicken. Sad story on him. But I always enjoy the history, and more so your calming voice, the river, and the beauty of larking. Thanks Marie. 🤗

This is a fascinating video. I commented on the Patreon about the cock-shy. I still wonder about your little lead figure! Between your impeccable knowledge and the equally impeccable knowledge of the expert with whom you contacted,it seems to be still up in the air! So mysterious! The dagger tip is downright nefarious,I have a dagger, needing a handle, never bothered to make one for it,due to aforementioned nefariousness. I am obsessed with the Tudor coin boxes. Oh if only Icould find even a tiny sherd of that green pottery! BTW,I may be in the works for going to London in March, before the permit ends,April is not available,I bet it’s rather cold and rainy at that time of year, but I don’t care! It was -22 c over here recently!

It is indeed still in the air for now, but the general consensus, led by the PAS records, is that it's probably a shy-cock. It might also be an incomplete pipe tamper too! So we have a new contender. I will update you when I know more. I'm sure you'll find some Tudor Green next time, I feel it in me bones! Oh my gaaaaahd minus 22?? Yes it's rainy and cold here but record atm is -4...in Scotland.

I had to fast forward past your gruesome description of animal cruelty. May next time offer a warning and a time to skip ahead to. Otherwise, a very interesting video with some fascinating finds.
