I studied for a year before turning 65. Went to a state workshop and they flat out told us there’s no advantage to advantage plans. We were reminded to think about chronic conditions that might start when we’re older - those conditions can add up if they mean lots of trips to Dr and hospital. I decided on Original Medicare with supplement (Medigap) plan F, purchased through AARP (United Healtcare actually is the supplier). I’ve found providers immediately recognize the AARP card. My Part D prescription insurance is with my retiree healthcare plan (which I just use the drug coverage for). I’m now 75 and my Medigap plan has gone up in price, but I budget to pay for it. I’ve been to the ER three times this year - never had to worry about the charges. Best thing, I never have to worry about how much it’s going to cost if I need to go to the dr or ER. If I become incapacitated, my power of attorney isn’t going to have to worry about billing and payments…it’s all taken care of. Very happy with my choices!

Happy to hear that Susan! If you are still in good health, it may also be in your best interest to shop your plan! Medigap plans are standardized, so the benefits are the same regardless of insurance carrier. You may be able to save money and maintain the same level of benefits! If you visit our website, www.MedicareOnVideo.com, we would be happy to run a quote for you, no cost to you!

Question, I turn 65 late 2025, I am American citizen living abroad, China. I do have a US address, it's not my home, it's my sons home. I use this address to receive mail and for my US drivers license. I have US bank account where I am receiving my SS benefits. How does this effect my Medicare and Medigap Plans. I am not looking for information about using any coverage here in China, healthcare here is very inexpensive. Looking for information to as will this complicate signing up and complicate my coverage in the US if needed.

With HDG, do excess charges count towards the deductible?

I'm just starting file for social security at age 67 but still working for now on employee insurance. I understand I should have enroll before 65 which I didn't know that I should.

If you had employer insurance since the age of 65 and the employer had 20+ employees, you likely qualify for a Special Enrollment Period to start Medicare, and can enroll without penalty. Give us a call at 877-885-3484 and we can walk you through the process.

OM is all good until it's not. What I mean by that is Medicare "THE GOVT" has rules in place where they know better than your doctor about your health care and what you need. Some life saing procedures might not be covered or turned down by original OM.

You explain everything about the supplement plans except the monthly premium cost which is expensive AND you still have the pay $174 a month for part B. Great coverage but a great big price tag😢😮
