How to Paint Commander Dante, Chapter Master of the Blood Angels! Suitable for beginners!

Before this channel started I very rarely bought character models because I just didn't have the confidence that I could make a decent job of them but you've shown how simple techniques can achieve a great look. Basically what I'm saying is you're the reason I now have no money but loads of extra plastic 😂

😂 #sorrynotsorry for helping build your confidence…and destroy your wallet!! Yeah there’s definitely an element of fear with certain models, that it would be a waste to get them unless you can paint them like the crazy artists on the internet etc but it’s just not true. They’re just slightly bigger models, apply the same skills, and take some extra time to paint them! It’s not worth missing out on any model because you think you need to get better first etc. painting these models is how you get better(if you do want to improve, I’m pretty happy with where I’m at!) I tested out Dante last week. He slew half of a unit with a single axe swing. Plus this model looks damn good.

Lovely paint job. Looking forward to getting and painting mine, mind you I've just finished the classic version of him. One little nit-pick, you kept calling his axe the Axe of Morkai. That's Logan Grimnars axe. Dante's is the Axe Mortalis. Sorry my lore nerd side came out 😅😂 Dante truly is a beast, he took down Angron in Warhammer+'s latest episode of Battle Report. OK he died first, but he managed to fight back before dying with a strategum and they both went down.

Thanks for this. I just finished my Dante with help of this tutorial though with a few modifications. Used Reikland Fleshade gloss instead. My Dante is a shining beacon of golden hope in the Imperium 😬😁😃😄

You made the rite choice. I try stay away from discontinued paints as it would be crappy for people to like the video and then go out to buy paints that aren’t available any more.

Love the style and really love the tutorials as they have helped loads. Dante's armour is new though. The mask and parts from the jump pack are the only original parts.

I must say sir. This is a fantastic video to get anyone into our fantastic not so little these days hobby. It took me forever messing around with my airbrush getting numerous different metalic layers. But man yours did not look far off using rattle cans and contrast paints. Goes well over the old retributor armor huh? Tbf always loved that paint! Top work man as always 👏👏👌

I’ve not had a lot of success or with retributor spray, is there any tips outside of the usual shake, warm and good leverage? Mine is never as shiny as this but my leadbelcher sprays are ✌️

I know it sounds like a waste but do try spray black and then spray with gold. I love how that works out. If you try it let me know what you think.

@@MediocreHobbies I’ve literally just tried that today 😅 I’m currently following the tutorial and it’s better with the chaos black, so will do that in the future. Might be the spray can batch but who knows 👍 Also side note, done some Flesh Tearer terminators and Dreadnought from previous videos; brilliant results and very fast method. Very happy, great videos, thank you✌️

I've noticed that you usually use black templar for the soft seals and this time you used black legion. Was there a specific reason for this?

Yes. So black templar is not as strong so over the grey seer undercoat it’s amazing but over gold it wouldn’t give good enough coverage. Black legion is a lot stronger so does indeed give the coverage you need.

I've never tried black legion as I was always satisfied with the slight opacity of the black templar has on the raised edges of power armor but after seeing the result that you achieved I may have to add it to my arsenal for similar circumstances. It's too bad you don't get a commission from GW because I am sure I am not the only person that has purchased different paints from them after watching you demonstrate them.

Yes for sure at that point it would loom shiny big after the shade and then being layered up it’s perfect.

Well they haven’t said specifically yet. My guess is his relic armour would have been modified to for his new form. I feel that would be cooler then just a new set.

Well the jet packs are the same , they basically used that model for the sculpt and made it a little skinner and gave him a head and some new weapons . I'm not saying it's bad or anything just that I can tell .
