Lahmian medium is different to Contrast medium, Its for re-hydrating paints that get too thick, but yeah it works similar to contrast medium, just a bit better for glazing.

I have an imperial army for legion and I had to paint sooooo many white armor troopers
@hendrikmoons8218 Жыл бұрын
How to paint your mini's white? 1. Select another color. 2. See rule 1. 3. Work with great colors around 'the zone' where you want white. Work with 2 thin layers of white + an icy blue (lightest blue you got). Then aply 3 layers of white. Still be disapointed in the white and question yourselve why, once more, you skipped steps 1. and 2. Great video btw

I'm doing white scars as my very first army. It has been a very fun kind of pain trying different methods of white. Favorite recently is zenithal with a white wash made from super thinned down apple barrel white and a bit of lamian medium. Works pretty well
@AshleyBlackwater Жыл бұрын
Lamian medium is pretty expensive across a whole army, so you might want to give making some at home a try, bunch of tutorials here on youtube for it :)

@AshleyBlackwater I only use like 10 drops from a pipette. The diluting is mostly water. Makes a couple ounces total. Lasts quite a while actually

For my Sacred Rose Sisters, I essentially use the 2nd method. Although instead of nuln oil, I use gw apothecary white. Works greats and not as harsh as the black of nuln oil.

I’m new to the hobby and have started a white scars army. I prime grey seer and zenithal white scar. I then use white scar layer paint to adjust brightness before gloss varnishing and pin washing with Tamiya Black panel liner. Tidy up any spillage and that’s how I do mine however I think they lack contrast. I’d like to try the clone method on my marines new to as it seems to nail contrast whilst remaining white. I also want to get better at painting so will definitely do the typical layer and glazing on my hero characters. I’d like to see you do some of the storm troopers like the commandos to see what they look like as a large unit

I am new to your channel. I found it as I started into the mini-painting hobby just earlier this year. Seeing the many techniques you use has really helped me see the spectrum and limitless possibilities in the world of mini-painting. I confess, I have never played WH40K; I know what it is, but only through people mentioning it here or there (like Henry Cavill in interviews), but have picked up a bunch anyway to practice paining. Likely I won't play since I don't know anyone who does, but since I played the heck out of Star Craft when I was younger, the Space Marine look was just too nostalgic to pass up. On that very long note, my first and primary love in the universe of stories is Star Wars. Can't get enough of it, love everything about it. I would LOVE to see you paint more Star Wars Legion stuff, especially Storm Troopers since they are so plain. I can see the use of various colors for legions of Clone Troopers, but I'm curious to see how you add your creative flair to Storm Troopers. Again, love the channel, keep it up!

A Sable brush set for $25 AU. A set of 36 Hobby paints for $35 AU. A set of 36 paint pens for $25 AU. A set of 5 clippers for $15 AU. And finally a knockabout airbrush for $30 AU which was surprisingly very good. More features than most mid priced products. Can’t wait to start painting those Marvel Zombies miniatures.

I go back to the white with w/2 more thin coats of a very subtle cream color mix. Correct spillage. Nuln oil wash/or very thin black paint to finish because I don’t have any varnishes for afterwards lol

@abigpickle6069 Жыл бұрын
I play White Scars and it has taken me forever to get them looking nice. I've found that doing a light gray primer and then dry brush white over the top of that. I then do a black wash to shade the recesses of the model. I find that this mix shows that the armor is clearly white but shows off more detail on the models and gives them a bit of a battle worn look that I love
@Adam-tr7is Жыл бұрын
I have started to do the zenithal then do an ink wash after a gloss varnish to really keep the white but get the really nice black lining all over. Sort of similar to the White Scar.

Personally I do it entirely with my airbrush. Depending on the color of the base, I will mix either some cold blue, brown or tan in some ivory, spray over everything, mix more ivory to spray at about 45 degrees, pure ivory at about 10, then pure white completely up top. I paint the undersuit and details with black templar contrast afterwards.

Painting white has been a real challenge for me, I have a pre-heresy Luna Wolves army and (with some helpful pointers from the guys via Patreon) I've found my formula. Dark gray base, white zenithal, then a 4:1 speedpaint white and black to give the shadows some definition, then a drybrush of Pro Acryl's bright warm gray. I'm going for a very matte, desaturated look like they have on the covers of those first few Horus Heresy books. I've been leaning pretty heavily on black speedpaint for the shoulders and details.

Uggggggh, I'm like halfway through painting my lance of white Battletech mechs... And now I might have to start over. What I have right now is ok, but I'm not thrilled with them. The problems I have with white paint are: Poor and uneven coverage, but the paint still looks thick and gloopy on the model. I can see my brush strokes in the paint, which makes it look scratchy. The paint is already pretty thin, but with the above problems it feels like a little thinning might help. But if I thin the paint at all, I get tons of bubbles- especially in the crevices. I may go back and try the Clone Trooper method in this video. I did a tester model with nuln oil, but I didn't thin it and the wash was too dark. I do like the look of those clone troopers.
