What happens when you plant thousands of crops all at once in Scrap Mechanic Survival? I wanted the answer to that question so I spent a few weeks building this massive farm. The raid was big but was it as big as I thought it would be?

Scrap Mechanic gameplay but not with ScrapMan, Moonbo or KanGaming. This is also not Scrap Mechanic Creative or Scrap Mechanic Challenge Mode. It's all Scrap Mechanic Survival mode. Oh and there's also no Scrap Mechanic Markiplier or Scrap Mechanic iBallisticSquid gameplay either. I also don't use the Suspension Glitch in Scrap Mechanic or Piston Engines.

If you plant 100 tier 3 crops for 3 nights in a row, you will get 3 Farmbots. Since your farm is spread across 3 chunks, you could actually get 9 Farmbots.

raidcounter disapears after you log out, it doesn't come back when you log in again, also the raid is a few minutes early ingame time

A good way to increase the raid size is making the bots come in waves. Like the same way if a player leave the crops planted the next raid will be tougher until the third raid happens, it will stay at that level until the crops are picked up. Also my little 1 thousand crop farm has a storage system to keep the crops and seeds seperated. The extra seeds get crafted into soil to expand the farm or spat out of loading distance to be despawned with my train.

I build a farm with 4 x 77 planting spots, put exactly at the tile borders, so I get quadruple raids xD but this also allows me to put 12 high tier crops without getting a raid at all ;) so I can do this everytime I leave my base to gather some ressources, without having to bother!

Survival is definitely too easy right now if you come from similar games with survival/tower defense as the focus. They are going to add a story though so don't give up on the game yet.

I found an island and tried making a farm on it. BUt it was too long so I got bots still spawning. I laid down a concrete floor at one end to stop them from spawning, but they still spawned on the floor. So, I am pretty sure they will still spawn even if all the grass is covered.

Havent finished watching.. but what about farmbot death explosions? I think only t3 metal can withstand.. and i believe shockwave goes 8 blocks deep. I look forward to the raid.

I really want to see you plant a bunch of broccoli and pineapple and get a max level raid. 3 farm bots and a bunch of tape bots are no joke :) Make sure you have a bed and plenty of spuds next to it, tape bots don't often miss and by the time you have dealt with one farm bot the other 2 will be inside destroying everything soooooo fast. I dont think anything is indestructible to a farm bot, I had a farm with a double layer of ramps around it and they went through that in 2 seconds flat and destroyed my whole farm. Keep some spare broccoli and pineapple seeds somewhere safe too.

Is there a certian tier crop that can just spawn haybots to create a haybot farm for scrap metal, compent kits and circuit boards. Can pumps pick up oil veins? if so that would be a great way to collect oil for any oil base items or my hover station that can hover just for 3 second with a full oil container lol

As long as you don't plant Broccoli or Pineapple you will only get Totebots and Haybots.

Possibly but I tried something like that for the watering system and it was a nightmare. Hopefully they will add track blocks so we can do something like this in the future.

Have you thought about using sensors instead of timers ? Kan made a good video about how to this and said that it saves a lot of headache

I would do that for planting or picking but the timer for the watering system was very easy to setup.

Hey i have a question, i have a setup for my auto farm that involves 2 sensors at opposite ends for detecting fully grown crops, which in turn triggers a timer (60 secs to give enough time for all crops to grow), and then the timer sends signal to a memory unit, which switches on the auto seeding/watering/harvesting setup. But my memory unit keeps glitching out, like it keeps crazy looping(i use a NOR NOR OR setup). i thought maybe its because of the timer giving a continuous input so i tested separately, a button to a timer(timer set to 1 tick) and timer output to memory unit. The memory unit glitched out again, but when i directly give an input with a button, it seems to work fine. Do you have any idea what might be causing this issue?

Do you mean Logic Gate? If so I'm not sure, I've only used Logic Gates for basic stuff because Survival can't really handle complicated builds right now.

wow they actualy spawn inside the farm area? why don't they just program the spawning so that they can't spawn "x" amount of blocks within any soil blocks. its simple programming.

i think the material hes using is tier 2 concrete which has a pretty good durability ( i think 6) and i thought tier 3 concrete and tier 3 metal were the only ones immune, but apparently not

They don't attack blocks that are Durability 6 or higher. Same with Totebots.

Why can't you make like a AI vehicle that runs on its own in a defined path with one vaccum pump sucking out the crops and another vaccum pump at the back of the vehicle planting the seeds in the plot where the plant was just harvested and then you could approximate how many plots later you need to change out the chests so just make like a catchment point for the vehicle after so many plots so that u can swap chests and let it continue on its path etc?

I habe an 320 Plot Farm an get 4 Raids @ones. At a LVL 6 Raid Wave 3 i get 40 Haybots. Its a nice passiv Metal income.

it should be horrible to handle all this bots your alone every day. i recomend put a lot of blades rotating whit controlers to make very sure the bots cant enter in the farm and if they try they get hited automaticly by the blades rotating( you dont need fuel just need controlers in loop) anoter ting i should try is make automatic crushers like anoter youtuber but he used their lift

The number of raid timers isn't based on the number crops. Each tile gets its own raid so if you build your farm on a border between 2-4 tiles you'll get a raid for each tile with enough plants growing on it.

​@@mamalamapajama8101 Probably not anytime soon, you will most likely have to rearrange your setup. Good news is the border should be somewhere in the middle of all your plots. Alternately, you can keep them where they are and do 3 micro farms where each has less than the minimum raid amount. Your defenses wouldn't even stand against a single farmbot. They will come in and just walk through your defenses as they aren't defenses for them. I saw much better defenses and the farmbots destroyed a lot of the defenses before they went down. But the defense was build from tires throwing them away, bobbing floors and concrete walls and some parts were protected by T7 metal and even warehouse keys. 2 farmbots were killed by the tires and blew up taking most of the defense out with the explosion and the last one took out big chunks out of the concrete wall. The bots are not interested in you until you attack them or get too near. Their aggro is mainly against the crops and they will go through everything if they can. The tape bots will fire at everything, if they can't see you. So they will destroy your building in the inner part, when they can hit them and you have no closed wall. Still an impressive farm and it looks really good.

I've run raids with 3 Farmbots spawning on my first farm and with Tier 3 Metal they sometimes just stand there and don't attack.

@@MediocreMilton Were they near the crop? If the crop or you aren't near enough they just stand around. A strange thing though. Just the same, that those bots ignored you. You can even push them around. In most cases they won't react, just run to the wall again. If you attack them, or get in front of them, they normally attack. So if your wall is far enough away, they just stand there. Strange behavior, I know. Your crop isn't far from the wall so it is very likely they will attack. And they have changed the behavior of the bots in one of the last updates. Before the update Tapebots were only shooting at you, now they shoot randomly at your buildings. So depending on the time passed since this raid their reactions are very likely not what you experienced. I'm sure they try to improve things even though the mechanics that bring up lags are a real thread to the game. When many bots actually attack, the frame rate drops massively until you kill enough of them. These problems are for sure the main reason for these smaller raids. Perhaps this is also the reason why the bots aren't attacking stuff they can't destroy.

Survival still unplayable. Seeds and crops are capped at too low numbers, chest are expensive to get and even with chests, they are very limited with space... They need to increase cap of seeds and crops to 50 each...
