@Urayis wish l Have listened to Rupert for a long time, but I've come to conclude that he isn't taking people to real self. The real self is 'higher', 'deeper', or 'further back' than what Rupert is taking people to. I believe he is only taking people to the reflection of consciousness, and not the atman (real self). He may or may not be aware of this. I don't know, but that's my conclusion.

Thank you so very much. This simple, yet powerful, clarity points directly to the seeing & the recognizing, knowing our essential self. It feels like I've sought it my whole life, & yet "I am always here. Thank you for helping me see what was obscuring this recognition (our fascination with content) & compassion for the understanding we've been taught to give attention to objects most of our life. How do we integrate, keep coming back to ever present awareness. 🙏 ❤️🔥

@@hardyad2102 How could "I am the "ONE" who is" refer to a third party? To me, this is a statement that there is only the One, and I am that.
@markhenry27264 жыл бұрын
@@claudelebel49 There's definitely a more explicit tone in this statement though. I am that I am can seem rather vague to someone who isnt familiar with it's inner non-dual meaning. I am the "ONE" who is seems a bit more explicily non-dual. Of course this could still just as easily be, and obviously is, misunderstood by the average reader or fundamentalist. But it's an interesting difference in tone nonetheless.

Philosophical terms can only be compared if you have explanatory works you can draw from. This is nothing new. „Beingness“ is very different from Buddha’s context to let’s say Heidegger. See also how the word „energy“ gets vandalized by non-physicists and even they don’t really know what it is. However, they’re the only ones able to use it correctly, that is, their predictions will come true. Physics is not about matter, it’s about repeatable structures of what is.

"I am that I am was the highest formulation of the truth in any spiritual tradition. This is one of the best summaries of Spira's teachings (outside of the slow pace due to it being "meditative"). One point - Spira and many others, including Ramana Maharshi, are the "victims" of the fact that translators of the Bible rarely understood either the original languages (Hebrew and Aramaic) or the concepts being discussed. "I Am That I Am" expresses a core concept in Nonduality - but it is not the correct translation of the Bible quote. The biblical statement "I Am That I Am" by the burning bush, is a frequent subject of wishful thinking by the nondual and New Age communities. It is constantly perceived as meaning the same as the Vedic "I Am That" - but it isn't. The Hebrew word being translated as "That" has nothing in common with the Sanskrit word translated as "That". And, Hebrew scholars say that the sentence indicates that the phrase is a paraphrase of what was said, not a quote of the statement by the burning bush. ("Never you mind what I am" is a defensible translation of the phrase.) Ramana expert David Godman stated "Bhagavan would pick out key texts from the Bible, such as ‘I am that I am’ and ‘Be still and know that I am God’ and ignore other parts of the book, " And in fact, a thorough reading of the Bible does not come up with anything other than very dualistic religions that put "God" as distinctly separate from "everything else". Many people are raised in Christianity and other dualistic religions, and so Nonduality is easier to sell if one can make the case that the originators of those religions were actually nondualists themselves. But that attempt is a dead end, because those religions are hopelessly dualistic and the actual viewpoints of people thousands of years ago is impossible to really determine. So, nonduality teachers should stick with teaching the advantages of nonduality, rather than trying to use an "appeal to authority" by quoting famous texts.
@TheKstuart7 жыл бұрын
"The non dual teachings are the basis of all religions". I think that is a New Age myth. It's also a VERY important marketing tool to try and get people involved in groups who have been brought up in mainstream religions, and might occasionally get the idea that they are "going to hell" for attending that yoga class. If you read the entirety of several books of the bible - rather than just cherry picking sentences out of context, they are unquestionably dualistic. The fact that non dual teachings are an accurate description of the world does not make them the basis of all religions, just as serving the citizens is not the basis for all governments. Anyway, here is an example of what I mean. Many non-dual teachers understand that the foundation of the practice is "Be still". Some of them have heard the phrase from Psalm 46 "“Be still, and know that I am God." Even better than having "Be still", it has OMG "I am". Any self respecting teacher can come up with some nondual teaching when the quote has the two most important nondual statement in it. But... the whole quote is "“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. " If you are still not convinced that this is 100% dualistic, how about the earlier verse: "The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress." We are not talking about Absolute Brahman here, we are talking about the Personal God within the relative world, i.e. "Iswara".

And what of Nisargadatta 's "Absolute" non-state prior to illusionary consciousness ( I am)????
@mrbeyong85595 жыл бұрын
Nothing happens with that. According to Nisargadatta Maharaj the I am is always attested by that is not considered as the ultimate reality. . The term [prior to] does not imply separation or duality between consciousness and Absolute [Awareness]. We could say that the Absolute or Awareness is Consciousness in itself or pure Conciousness and the consciousness of itself [with minuscule] is the reflex consciousness or by contact. The latter is illusory because it appears and disappears with its object. According to his teaching in deep sleep there is Awareness but not consciousness.
@anilareddy90994 жыл бұрын
true but even in the verses you shared I don't see any dualism because it largely depends on how one is interpreting. If you dive into Neville Goddard's teachings, he refers to the Bible as allegorical and provides translations for it that signify the nondual nature that the presence of consciousness is the only reality. So actually religions like Hinduism or Christianity - if I look at their scriptures - they were all meant to be inferred and applied in a non-dualistic manner. There is no outside cause. Of course, most translators have this idea that God is something outside of themselves bc they identify themselves as human.

audio so low, hard to hear. Too much "thought" in the threads below. What difference does it make "what WAS meant or not meant", or "is proper or not", IF you get the message here, namely, REALITY is non-dual, non-opposing, non-agitating, not-this-not-that---a UNITED WHOLE, or to use the parlance of the New Age Movement, the Quantum Field or the 5th Dimension. This being said, the ever-present-I-Am, being talked about my Rupert, and his asking whether no matter the quality of the experience one is feeling, the fact that there is this un-changing Supra-Awareness Ever Present, does me no good, when I feel to be personally witnessing a "depressed state of being", and I can't see it becoming not or non-depressing, outside of eons of time-passage or uber material improvement in the present Life, or a "dissolution of this current body-mind-personality, for a new one that can perform better, think better, be more inclined to achieve meaningful material happiness. I intellectually and philosophically understand what he is saying, but it doesn't give me any "enlightened, "bliss" feeling or awareness"...only a knowingness of Truth.

Yes, "I" refers simply to the experience of Being. The pure sense of existence before it becomes identified with the body-mind complex and all other subsequent identites: i.e "man, woman, friend, painter, saint, etc.". You are, in your essential nature, that pure and formless presence of the I AM without attributes. What an incredible discovery.
