I have been doing meditation from the past few years but never experienced samadhi. I have not experienced the stillness of mind for a longer duration, this experience is like a mystery still for me.

Watch your breath, watch for tension in the body, watch the breath, watch for tension in the body, do not be absorbed by thoughts, when you realise you are thinking something, stop yourself and watch the breath.

If you chase it like a flame chases oxygen you will find it. It comes out of a place of deep desire and sincerity blended with complete surrender to the unknown.

The one and only way to still the mind permanently is to use self inquiry but using Rupert Spiras direct method of placing awareness on awareness itself even when not meditating. I was struggling with returning thoughts until I began this method. The mind does not necessarily completely stop but it remains in the background rather than demanding your attention. It’s simple. Just be aware of being aware. You quickly get to the point where thoughts no longer occur or they simply come and go and you just notice them rather than living them. A silent mind becomes the norm. Try it now. You just have to be persistent.

@@tobiasdontmatter1868Desire cannot be a variable in silencing the mind. Persistence without desire is key.

Samādhi means to be absorbed in some particular type of thought. That is called samādhi. So if you are fully Kṛṣṇa conscious, that is samādhi. Twenty-four hours samādhi. Not that a periodical samādhi. The ordinary yogīs, they... Of course, samādhi is not, I mean to say, ordinary term. Suppose if he can remain in samādhi, say, for a little period, say, one hour, two hours, but Kṛṣṇa conscious person is in samādhi twenty-four hours, cent per cent, because he is always thinking of Kṛṣṇa. That is being explained. Mayy āsakta-manāḥ pārtha yogaṁ yuñjan mad-āśrayaḥ [Bg. 7.1]. If one performs yoga, taking shelter of Kṛṣṇa, and always thinks of Kṛṣṇa, then he is in samādhi. The others, they're, out of frustration, they want to stop all activity. That is voidism-to stop all this activity. Buddha philosophy is more or less based on this voidism: make everything null and void-no more activities, no more love. We don't say. Just like you cannot see properly because our eyes are diseased. To cure the disease, and then you see properly. And other says, "All right, pluck it out. The disease in the eye, take away." That is not very good proposition. We say that make treatment to make the eyes to see properly. Remedy problem. Our proposition is, sarvopādhi vinirmuktaṁ tat-paratvena... [Cc. Madhya 19.170]. We simply cleanse the process. The seeing process we cleanse. We don't pluck out the eyes out of frustration: don't see; make everything void. No. We don't say that, because there is no void; it is simply frustration. There is variety, nice variety, spiritual variety...

Its liberating.. but it's isn't liberation, which would be permanent. Our attention, makes what we focus on whole. While "in" the world that's what we focus on, as we go deeper inwards the "further" away from "reality" until all that is left is the self.. pure and untouched by worldliness

practice, I’m ADHD and been meditating for about a year and a half and I worked my way up to the hour long samadhi. It’s basically like building a muscle.

When meditation is liberation it automatically says we are right now not liberated. But we must have been in an earlier stadium. Otherways we could not speak of liberation.Now we are fallen and in that impermanent conditioned Situation which causes us suffering. Birth, old age disease, death. Or as buddha called it dukha. To totally liberate we need to get out of the circle of birth and death (samsara). Cause our true nature is that we are eternal, full of knowledge and blissful( sat-cit-ananda).
@AwakenTheWorldFilmАй бұрын
Who needs to get out of the circle of birth and death? Only the false self. The true self was never bound. Bondage and liberation are a game within the world of form. Meditation is the way to wake up.
@ciroolfАй бұрын
@AwakenTheWorldFilm sastra says there are two bodys. The gross material body made of earth, fire, water, air and ether and the subtle body made of false ego, mind and intelligence. Which both are not permanent. Behind that is the spirit soul. Working through these two bodys. As soon as the soul comes in contact with those two bodies it falsely thinks it is the body. Therefore it is necessary. We should not speculate about such topics with our mundane mind. And take absolute knowledge from sastra and vedic scriptures.
