My relationship with Our Mother is a work in progress. I've had a life with a good share of immense suffering and can't seem to feel a bit jealous of those who could fly off to Medjugorje and be healed. More than a few times I've felt abandoned as i prayed and got the opposite of what I asked. Depression and OCD are immense crosses. You can be at peace when you are suffering physically, but how can you be at peace when your cross is a profound lack of peace? Then I look at my life and realize I've had two saints for parents and was allowed to attend three apparitions when Ivan toured the nation. My depression is under control and I'm a husband, a father and a grandpa. I love Our Lady, but my inner soul is still like a whipped puppy next to her. I'm still hard wired to associate her with suffering.

Hi Russell, I felt compelled to answer you. I was in Medjugorje in November 2022. I carried a list of prayer requests with me and our Spiritual Director (and Priest) took a beautiful picture of me kneeling by the statue of our Blessed Mother on Apportion Hill, praying my Rosary. For many (probably most) people who visit Medjugorje, we don’t have any miracle moment. Like you, I have a few crosses to carry and I get frustrated that the burden of these crosses does not change. I believe we have to learn to be grateful for every thing in our life, even when it seems to be the opposite of what we wanted. For example, while OCD can seem like a tremendous burden, I’m sure it has allowed you see see many details that most people miss. There is a wonderful peace in Medjugorje, but we must find that peace and love where we are right now. I try to always smile at people and see God in everyone. I play a game with myself when someone does something that annoys me, I think ‘is this God playing with me, to see if I’ll get upset?’ If I am upset, this thought quickly centers me again. You’re a husband, a father and a grandpa. At 60+ I’ve never managed to achieve any of these (although I’ve prayed fervently for them) so know that you have indeed been blessed. A Rosary prayed in Medjugorje feels much the same as a Rosary prayed at home. What makes a Rosary special in truly meditating on each of the mysteries. I loved my trip to Medjugorje and I’d go back again in a heartbeat! But it’s more important that we live our day-to-day life feeling close to Heaven in our prayers. In a way, it’s almost a hindrance to our relationship with our prayer life to visit Medjugorje because we lose that special feeling when we get home and we struggle to have that special prayer connection. Does that mean I would not got back to Medjugorje? Not for a minute! It’s a wonderful experience (and affordable, with great food) but we must work hard to be grateful for everything in our lives where we are right now and know that God’s timing is always perfect. (And in closing, this message may have been as much for me as it was for you) God Bless.

I returned from Medjugorje 3 weeks back & there once again was introduced to the Divine will by someone I met. One of the many things My Loving Mother gave me is a desire to live in the Divine Will. And here again I am reminded to preserve. Thank you sister for so beautifully explaining what it means to live in the Divine Will. I am planning on buying the books to read, is that a good start?

@@tommedjugorje Actually Tom, Fr Bucci ( who used to serve Luisa her food and was exposed to Luisa throughout his life) stated that Luisa was the only person who actually lived in the Divine Will. He stated this in an interview given which could be found on Fiat Luisa a few years before his death with Fr Thomas B Celso in the podcast talk.
