You put plugins on the AUX, get the sounds you want, and then print to the audio track. Now you can make that AUX inactive with the plugins because that sound is recorded to audio track. Versus keeping all those plugins running on a dry audio track. Make sense?

To me this approach is killing young and unexperienced guys... They never get to hear how the raw signal sounds, and they never get to learn how to properly creatively mic the artist or an instrument... Most of the guys do exactly this, cut the lows up to 500hz, kill all the balls in the signal, throw some arbitrary level of compressions and turn the vocals up too much, and when it comes to mixing stage, boom, demoitis, everything has to stay too thin and shrill because that's how it was being listened for hundreds or thousands of times prior mixing... This is the exact reason why most of the music nowadays sounds wack and thin, with the exception from the very top of the line artists which also get the screw their sound from time to time...

For sure latency compensation with cut tracks
@pjlee4540 Жыл бұрын
Particularly what is a cut track What does it compensate Is this referring two 2 track recording
@ZAY________ Жыл бұрын
well, I used to call my "Cut track" simply "Headphone 1" and that's simply where you record everything on. In my case Its actually technically a Headphone mix. After recording a take, you gotta drop down to your regular track "Verse 1, 2 / Hook" tracks, in which those all have EQ, Compression, Autotune all separately and then all your lead vocal tracks get sent out to a Lead vocal BUS where they are processed even more. The idea is to RECORD on a track with very little processing so you don't get system overloads or latency. The Cut track has very little processing on it. All I have on my Cut Track/Headphone Mix is "Stock EQ, CLA 3A and a logic stock 1/4th + 1/2 left/right Delay. It is JUST to simply allow the artist to FEEL in the mix during recording. AFTER recording the take, you gotta drop down to the actual processed track. The tracks I drop down are MUCH louder, with EQ Compression saturation etc @@pjlee4540

Well first of all is the beat selection 😌 then I just record with my preset without reverb or delay (Add that later) make sure my delivery is solid before i even start the song (this helps for mixing and reduce the chance to punch in after half a bar) so ill scat around using the highest pitch for the song within that key of the song to expand my vocals that helps me hit all notes within that key so i wont be struggling to say certain words. After ill make the hook See what sounds are catchy for the song and then ill start writing from that hook

cut track does nothing for latency thats baloney. Send your Record track or "cut track" into the vocal bus. So no plugins on the cut track and just send the cut "out" into the vocal bus. Set buffer to 64 or 128 and youre good. If using autotune pro turn on low latency in autotune plugin settings

@konjstip6156 Жыл бұрын
Mike technique is a lost art, nobody doing that anymore, nobody listens to the raw signal any more, unexperienced guys think they can make up everything with plugins, and honestly internet doesn't help them learning that... Nobody listens and judge a raw recording nowhere in the production stage, everybody listens ballless shrill thin recordings with the lows completely cut off... Real recording and mixing engineers quit from trying to educate people, they don't want confrontation, they just want their money on the table and that's it... That's why mixing engineer most of the time nowadays ask for straight up processed tracks, so they can just polish what was done in the recording/production stage and move on, it's sad. Listen to mr Fabian Marasciullo at Pensado's place 356 from 5 years ago, it is worse now.
